Aldeia Rivonia

We were a party of 10 who recently visited.
The restaurant was pretty empty- probably more waiters than patrons.
We ordered / and the service was just fine.
The food was ok - nice, good in fact - but nothing exceptional.
Thought it was all on the somewhat pricey side.
The disappointment was the complete lack / visibility of any management .
The bill came to a good few thousand Rand - and not even one visit / ask from management to ask if all was well.

What an amazing restaurant! Been here twice in a space of 2 weeks and was blown away both times. Highly recommend the Aldeia platter. Service was top notch and food was to die for. Will be returning.

Absolutely love this restaurant! Always my go to when we need a good dinner! They never disappoint.a must have every month.

We had an early dinner here with the family. The “authentic” food was ok, though I don’t think tastic rice can be any kind of authentic and overall most dishes were just “ok”. Oysters weren’t great and had a tad too much of a fishy flavour.
Service was a bit slow, considering we were literally the only customers. But overall ok.
My favourite was the crème caramel desert. Ordered two.

Edit: same issue, asked for management or a resolution and all we got was, eish it is always a problem. So what now? Why don't you get zapper, snapscan, masterpass or any other means of payment if this is a recurring issue, which according to the staff it is?

Edit: reply from management is defensive and puts the ball straight back with the customer blaming us for not asking "to speak to management" like Karen would:) Is it too much to ask to simply proactively manage this (by training waiters appropriately) since it is clearly a recurring issue?

They don't accept digital cards and they don't have tap and pay. You need to pay with a physical card even though this is 2023.

Waiter wasn't particularly helpful and just shrugged, saying "it does that all the time please use your card" Would be great if the management takes this seriously.

Not kids friendly. No kids menu or options for kids. Told to order from startes for the kid, but nothing under starters a kid will eat.

Food was over salted and tasted horrible. Even when sent back it was returned tasting worse than before, it was as if they just added vinegar to the over salted food. The owner/Manageress changed a baby’s nappy in the wine cellar which is in full view of diners. Poor taste. Poor food and overall unpleasant experience.

Awesome Portuguese fare with warm attentive service. Rissois camarao that remind me of childhood, perfect peri peri chicken and beautiful espetadas and prawns. What a wonderful gem right on our doorstep!

Food is really good with their homemade sauce. Wide variety on the menu and ample seating inside and outside the restaurant. Service was quite slow considering it wasn’t that busy. Overall a great experience and I’ll be back.

I mean, mussel beards! Absolutely disgusting and inedible! If this was Masterchef, Aldeia would be sent home immediately.

Btw, they still charged me full price for the meal even though I only had one mouthful! Highly disappointed! I would not recommend this place!

Stay away and spend your hard earned money elsewhere!

Great atmosphere and service. Enjoyed the live music. Seafood was perfect and the chicken was spiced amazingly if a little dry in some pieces. Would go again for the prawns and kingklip

Staff and owner/manager always greet;
Warm, friendly and inviting atmosphere.

Fantastic experience!
I loved the meal from the freshness of the salad to their fruit cocktail juice, to the chicken and seafood seasoning, everything was on point.
The live music on weekends makes it that much more worth it and prices are decent.
Service makes you feel like a special guest! A kit was offered to the kids to keep them busy and entertained.
One of the best places to eat out in Sandton as a family in my experience! Keep it up!

Been there more than three times and had different dishes and everyone one is amazing. The manager there is super friendly and the place is great. A favorite in Rivonia and we willing to drive all the way there for their stuffed calamari

Mother's day experience was exceptional! Food incredible and service excellent! Owners are very involved in ensuring that patrons are well looked after. 20/10! Well done
