Dr Lynsey is a hero! My cat was suffering from anemia likely induced by parasites. Things weren't looking good for him and we were sure our time with Genghis was coming to an end. But thanks to Dr Lynsey's constant care and correct diagnosis he has now made a full recovery. We are forever grateful for the compassion shown and professional service from start to end. I live a bit further away now, but will gladly keep making the trip out in future. Thanks again to the whole team - you guys are amazing <3

We have been used Blue Hills vet for the past 10 years but when I took my sick Staffie there today I was asked to by the receptionist to simply take a seat. After about a 12-minute wait another patient came in and was immediately attended to by Lynn. I then asked the receptionists what was going on and was advised that the other patient had an appointment, and I didn't. I then suggested to the reception staff that they should communicate with the clients advising them that without an appointment they would have to wait, which is understandable, but at least they should give some indication of how long the wait would be. This is simple customer etiquette in my humble opinion!

Next thing is that Tim Hepplestone stormed and told me that he did not appreciate me being rude to his staff. When I tried to explain what happened and that I was not rude, he immediately asked me if I go to my doctor without an appointment to which I replied in an emergency yes! Tim then took one glance at my dog and proceeded to tell me that there was nothing wrong and that it was not an emergency.

He then told me to take my business elsewhere which I did.

I can strongly recommend that any client does not use Blue Hills Vet and to rather try Lyttleton Veterinary Hospital which is where I ended up going. It is about 5 kms further from where I live but this is a small price to pay so that I never have to deal with Blue Hills Veterinary Hospital again.

Trust me, the two experiences are worlds apart!

Blue Hills Vet has now been my deceased Grandparents Barry & Mary May's preferred vet for mote than 25 years! In fact my grandmother worked for Blue Hills Vet for many years up until her retirement! The Staff at Blue Hills are exceptionally outstanding! They have treated my own dogs over many years and I wouldny even consider taking my animals to any other vet, no matter how far Id have to travel! I trust & respect the vets at Blue Hills with my Beloved Four Paws & A Soul!

Last night I called the small animal emergencies cellphone number from the Blue Hills Veterinary Hospital website. My dog was presenting with hives, but did not appear to be distressed (her breathing was fine). I was reluctant to take her in to a 24 hour vet and pay the surcharge (as I had just taken my other dog in to a 24 hour vet and paid a surcharge during the week).

All other 24 hour vets I called refused to give me advice over the phone (event though they had seen my dog as recently as January), and said that I must come in for a consult.

When I called Blue Hills emergency number (at 21: 30), I was frustrated. The lady who answered the phone was polite, friendly and caring. It was so refreshing to talk to a veterinary hospital employee that did not just demand a consult. She was very helpful.

I would definitely recommend calling the small animal emergencies number for advice. If I lived closer to Midrand, I would readily support this vet!

My puppy got her first vaccinations there and I received great service from Dr Lynsey. She was extra thorough in giving me all the need to know details as a first time pet owner.

A month or so later, I had an emergency and encountered Dr Lynn. Instead of telling me whether I should seek help closer to where I was (as my pet got ill while on holiday) or if I could drive back to Joburg as I was not sure how severe my pets condition was and I was afraid she would be hospitalised in the town I was visiting and I would need to go back to Joburg and back to work. Dr Lynn spoke to me in the most condescending manner and ridiculed me before giving me the advice.

This happened in 2020 and write this review over a year later because I'm still shocked at how degrading the experience was.

Called a couple of times, receptionist talking to someone else, then puts the phone down. Very weird. Voting with my feet.

Been taking our English Mastiff here since we moved to SA from the states five years ago! Can’t recommend them enough. Dr. Lynsey has been our vet but all the vets are great! Very knowledgeable and compassionate. He doesn’t have much longer left and we are so lucky that we have Dr. Lynsey to help us through what will be a difficult time.
