I signed up last year with bonitas medical aid the first payment was supposed to be on the 25th of October, after the 25th I see that no debit order went off I called to find out. The broker had put it for the 1st as opposed to the 25th so we had it changed and Octobers payment was made as an Eft. On the 25th of November my account was double debited, and December my account was also debited come January I call, the lady that assisted said to me it was a mistake on you're side and a refund is due she will sort it out and apologizes as that contribution should be moved to Januarys payment I said to her how can than be you guys mess up you don't give me a call to say why I was double debited and now you moved the cash to Januarys contribution without even informing me. I spoke to two other ladies after that including the manager and they've said to me it was a mistake if I get debited again in January I should call in. Today my account was debited I call in and the gentleman says to me I'm an advance paying member but since when because no broker discussed that with me. I'm with you guys for 5 months but have made 6 payments. This is unacceptable and very unprofessional for bonitas medical aid. You guys are scammers and I'm going to cancel my medical aid. The debit order went off today so how would it work if my money has been taken but I've terminated the service.

Worst medical aid ever, paying almost R5k a month and they don't even pay for fillings at the dentist such utter nonsense over and above 99.9% of the time I have co-payments for medicine or they just don't pay for the medication. Logged a request to my HR to terminate end of June. Moving back to Discovery I would rather pay a bit more than settle for these thieves. If the was an option to rate negative you would have gotten a negative 10000000000000000000000000000 from me.

It the worse medical aid ever i pray to God to reveal them to people they are scammers and when you need help they won't care about you or the money you spend on them, i feel so drained i had to cancel it before my due date of pregnancy because they wouldn't even issue me with the membership card for 8 months with them i will do public hospital as i can't waist any more money i regret the day i joined the scheme.

I don’t even want to give them 1 star. From the beginning of my pregnancy journey I’ve been getting conflicting advice from all the agents I call, first they couldn’t tell me how to register for my maternity benefits, only to call the baby line myself and they registered my maternity benefits after asking 3 agents. Then I called in January to confirm that the hospital is in fact on the network and as I’m booking my date of getting authorization to my surprise the hospital suddenly is not on the network, this is right after I received a mail with LISTS! On the 4 Jan 2023? ! I’m appalled - 33 weeks pregnant and I have no Dr no hospital any longer as my Gynae that I’ve been with since the beginning only practices at this specific hospital. My baby is lying low too and my then Gynae gave me a preterm labor letter for just incase. I find myself with no hospital no plan. All this after calling on numerous occasions and all they said is they can only apologize and the networks changed. But clearly not their website or agents knew the changes.

I am disgusted. I called so many Gynaes and they all don’t want to see someone thats over 32 weeks.

I am disgusted. I tried chatting on WhatsApp to cancel the previous authorization because there’s a co pmt of 30% as they’re no longer on the network and not even the WhatsApp line works.

Utterly useless, disgusting and really just disappointing that I need to stress like this a month before I have to give birth.

Please don’t sign up with these people. They are very unprofessional.

The biggest thing I regret about Bonitas is that I didn't read the reviews first. I basically donated a year's premiums to Bonitas. There was nothing that Bonitas paid out to my service providers or myself. My mum and I are both chronic patients and I had to pay every month for our meds. My son only went to the doctor once and guess what we were told to pay for that too.
I am more shocked than anything else to discover that this situation is not unique to myself.
I can only hope and pray that no one else falls victim to Bonitas. They should definitely be titled the worst medical aid ever

So I am currently in casualties awaiting authorization for a CT scan an I am told that they only cover R1500 of a R11500.0 scan clearly they are quick to take your money bet when there members need the service they pay for non is given

Do not go with them it will be an expensive lesson

I don't understand why the website and the app does not function properly, I am unable to update my details. This is very inefficient as my details have now changed. 'Error occured" is as much correspondence as I get!

Worst medical aid I have ever been on. I can only advise people to not even think about joining Bonitas as it is not worth the lower premiums. The so called "benefit booster" is s**t wrapped in a ribbon. Sounds great at first but there will be every excuse under the sun as to why it can't be used. Apparently a statement showing a 0.00 balance is not proof a claim was paid out of pocket. So not only are the sales staff incompetent, so are the accounts people! This medical aid is not transparent, they are unethical and they do not care about you, just your money. Run far away!

Brand new members and the admin is pathetic. Membership is suspended because you cant capture banking details that were sent multiple times? If this is how we are treated from the very beginning then I cannot imagine when we actually need the support. Call Centre lines have you waiting over an hour and the whatsapp line no has called for over 2 days. Emails are never responded to and neither are social media dm's. This is South Africa's worst medical aid to deal with.

Misleading adverts recently on TV and other media. Ads claim that most costs or benefits dont come out of the savings. This is utter lies as is the benefit booster which is a waste of time and doesn't work

Several inquiries to Bonitas in an effort to register on its Oncology Program, exceeding a month, collecting a continuous list of reference numbers, all to no avail. Staff do not read email content or is totally disinterested, readily respond with just another reference number, nil action.
Great pretense, very poor service.

This company is a rip off guys.a total rip off. They started billing me for eight months for a medical aid which doesnt exist.i am not even a member.and the best part is that they are deducting straight from my payrol without my consent.dont waste ur time on these guys.save urself the pain.

Every time I phone, I get told different information about the same process. This has happened for multiple claims and queries.

If there is something wrong with a submitted claim, no one lets you know. You have to phone and query it and THEN they tell you there was a problem/missing document etc. If something can't be submitted as a claim, no one lets you know either.

An example of this is copayments. I am trying to claim from my mother's gap cover. I need the copayments I made to reflect on the medical aid statement. Two weeks ago I was told to submit these as a claim and they would be processed to reflect on the statement. Today I was told this just can't be done. (The agent was unusally rude as well. The other agents are usually polite.)

Now I am unable to claim from gap cover. All the money my mother spent ensuring she had gap cover was wasted because Bonitas does not have a way to accurately provide the information needed for the gap cover claim.

Finally, medical aid and gap cover providers should be able to liase with each other directly. The client can only provide limited information and explanations as we don't fully understand your systems and processes.
