Café del Sol Classico reviews
44Such an AMAZING PLACE! My best friend and I went there for lunch and I would definitely go back in a heartbeat. The food was fantastic and our waiter was so kind and friendly. It is also run by a good manager who made sure our food was good enough and treated us with kindness. Thank you guys, for a wonderful afternoon.
What a lovely experience! The booking of a table was seamless and the amount of care provided on my booking and table being to my liking was impeccable. The staff were friendly, attentive and kind. The food was wonderful, plated beautifully and portions were well suited. Overall, we had a fantastic dining experience.
Great food, great service! Do not like the atmosphere that much. But will keep on going back for the food and the service.
Edit:
1) The portion sizes were cut in half without a reduction in price
2) We found ticks in the menu, on the table and in the bill… pouch
3) The food still tastes good but because of this unclean environment and far overpriced dishes it makes it no longer worth it for me
It used to be one of my favourite places for Italian but now… just not it
Very very happy with the food and service here. It was my first time here and I will definitely be coming back soon. Loved it.
Firstly the food was outstanding and memorable as experienced over years- Great views of JHB. Decor is cool minimalist and without atmosphere- Service was friendly but untrained and well below par.
Updating my review after visiting for the second time. We received outstanding service from Joubert and Chirac. Joubert had us giggling evertime he came around to check on us. We ordered the chefs special fillet and the pepper corn fillet and the flavor was amazing. The Salted Caramel Crème Brûlée is a must try for dessert!
Great service and very well priced. Meals are different to you average restaurant and the tastes were amazing on the dishes. Will do it again.
Wow! Delicious food, beautiful presentation, gorgeous decor and excellent service - a perfect dinner experience. Had halloumi starter, Spinach and 3 cheese panzarotti, lamb and beetroot pasta and my favorite chicken sesame stir fry. Spotlessly clean plates waiters work as a team. Chirac served us - faultless attentive but not intrusive. Well worth a visit and friends from Sandton and Broadacres areas determined to go back to my local favorite. Thank you for making our evening so special.
This place is a mixed bag of bitter and sweet.
First off, the decor. It's stylishly put together - For the most part. Plastic chairs and paper table cloths didn't exactly tell a story of luxury.
The food is, as have always been the case, of a very high standard. Presentation is decent. However the prices are astronomical. We thought we'd plug for a three course meal, but our enthusiasm was very quickly nipped in the bud.
We ordered a bottle of Diemersdal Pinotage - A wine that retails for R135 per bottle presently. Their price? R280. Now I understand that restaurants employ sommeliers, and this does not come cheaply. So if I'm expected to pay such a surcharge for a wine, then I in turn expect the wine to be aged to it's prime and served at the appropriate temperature. What we received was a wine that was bottled one year ago. Pinotage needs 5 years minimum in the bottle before it starts to shine, so this wine disappointed me tremendously.
Dessert was decent, although the Gelato isn't what one would call fantastic.
Our server was exceptional, we tipped him generously for his outstanding service.
I like this restaurant and I've been a patron of the Cafe del Sol business for many years, but at R1,200 to have a steak, wine and some ice cream for two people I doubt if they'll be seeing me again.
The BEST pasta in Gauteng! My family and I could eat here every day. Best salted caramel cheesecake ever! The squid heads are the amazing. Delicious! Delicious! Delicious! Highly recommended. Friendly staff! Great service
The food is divine and fresh but be prepared to WAIT.service is slow and waiters are inattentive.
Visited Cafe Del Sol In HoneyDew Randburg. My partner and I had a chicken sesame stir-fry and stuffed calamari. The food was exquisite to say the least. Only down side was the decor of the place, it’s quite underwhelming and plain compared to other restaurants in the city. The Customer service was phenomenal, unlike anything I’ve experienced in Johannesburg. When you talk to the waiter it’s as though you are talking to the chef, well informed and impeccable with attention to detail. The desert was also breathtaking.
Had a delicious pasta dish last night also the service was amazing and the atmosphere was great! Highly recommend for people who want true Italian dishes
Just popped my head in to ask if they are open on 01 January 2022. They moved over from Olivedale. I will be sure to try them.
Great experience had there today. Good menu choice. Food was very tasty. Service was excellent. Our waitron's name is Khumbulani. Well done to him and the chef
Italian with a twist, relaxed and a lot of soul. Delicious menu. A real jewel in Olivedale. Have now moved to Blueberry centre in Honeydew.
Amazingly good food, especially the pasta and cheesecake Be prepared to pay quite high prices though, but worth every penny.
Their food was great except for one thing: they served an item that had a vegetarian icon on the menu with bacon. When I pointed out to them that they can't do this and need to fix the menu, they defended saying that I should have requested that the vegetarian dish be made without bacon.
