Chinese Northern Foods.

I ordered the Griddle Chicken pieces. Hoping for succulent chicken pieces as per the photograph. but the dish was basically very spicy chicken bones cut up from the carcas. Not pleasant to eat. The noodles were quite good.

Chinese supermarket's are the best places to go to up your flavour profile for all foods.

When we came here it was quieter, the service isn't bad, with the reccomendations being pretty on point. I personally really like the beef noodles, the broth was lovely. Great time overall, although we did have to remind the server of some missing parts of our order though they were fixed very quickly once reminded. Overall good experience.

Their vegetables lack freshness and options. Most popular Chinese dishes on menu they no longer supply, but they don't bother crossing off or supply with updated menu. Food taste bland, not flavourful. When asked to make substitute or add more variety vegetables to dishes, they charge extra. Service is slow and they don't have fans during summer, and it gets very hot. Don't recommend.

It was not the greatest, we just had the pork and leek dumplings and I must say they were less than average. They were small and mostly filled with leek, the dough was not seasoned, the price was very expensive too.
We got served 14 dumplings (when they said 15 would come) for the price of R 88, that I must say is a little absurd. Even the chili oil mixed with soy was not spicy enough and it was too salty

Although the restaurant itself was beautiful. The staff were very friendly but quite slow and preoccupied even though we were the only people there, I had to call them multiple times to get someone to help.

If only the food was good, this could've been a 5 star rating.

This is our goto Chinese restaurant. Love the spicy calamari, garlic ribs, bok choy, mapu tofu and the eggplant.

The pork belly was stale & rancid. The winter melon soup was old and had a weird taste. Only the hat cake was edible. Never going back there again. It was a scary & the most unpleasant experience.

Absolutely loved the options. In fact I'll go back just to read the menu. We chose conservatively despite the many choices of real Chinese dishes we still had a very tasty dining experience. I'll definitely be back. Dishes are large so perfect for big groups of people to get value for money. Our waitress was an excellent host and answered all our questions and made good recommendations. If you are near Rivonia you need to try this place. It's the real McCoy.

The food is really good, specifically the iron tofu, but it's honestly a bit expensive for how much you get. It would be great if the price could be lowered by like 10 or 20 Rand.

Omw the menu is extensive and some really strange sounding stuff but a delicious and friendly evening. Too much food ordered so we've got tonight's supper sorted. Very traditional

After our previous favourite Chinese restaurant (zen garden) closed down, we were desperately looking for an alternative.

We tried quite a few places, but when we tried Chinese Northern Foods in June this year, we knew we had found it!

Everything we have ever eaten here is fantastic! It’s authenticity and flavour can be vouched for by the sheer number of Chinese people we have seen eating here and the ‘aunties’ who come with their casseroles and boxes to takeaway large orders to be consumed at home.

The husband is addicted to their wonton soup and dreams of it often. I love the sweet corn chicken. I have to warn you though, that one order of soup is a whole meal in itself and you will still need to pack leftovers.

We of course order 2 soups and a lot of other dishes besides and pack all the leftovers to be enjoyed for lunch at home.the next day.

Every one of our friends whom we have taken with us to this place has loved it too.

Really authentic Chinese food, the braised pork with bok choi was a huge meal, extremely tender and flavourful. The hom3 style pork was sublime with some heat. Excellent food, highly recommend if you are after an authentic experience.

Great place to go out with a group of friends or to order-out from, for the family. Portions are large as they are normally meant to be shared.

A little pricey but super tasty and large portions.

I love this place! I lived in Beijing for three years and this restaurant is genuine. The food is excellent, always freshly cooked and the choice of dishes is wide and varied.

Authentic northern Chinese dishes.flavorful and good portions.especially must try is the Salted egg Corn. Simply out of this world

Wonderful array of authentic Chinese foods, highly recommended for the adventurous eater of you're looking for something a little different to the usual but there's something for the more conservative eater too

Authentic Chinese cuisine, including various vegetarian, chicken, pork? , beef and seafood? Dishes. The restaurant can get quite busy over a weekend. Table settings allow for social distancing. Small to medium sized groups can be accommodated. Staff are friendly and helpful. Good food?
