Restaurant Dros Kyalami reviews
23 By far the best breakfast we've had. It has lovely outdoor seating, overlooking a nursery. There is a big play area for kids.
The service is a bit slow on some days, but highly recommended.
The perfect spot for good food and relaxation!
Bad food to the extent of giving us mouldy disgusting sour cream. This can cause food poisoning guys - cmon and the so called 'manager' was totally incompetent. Yall can do better for such a nice venue. Awful experience
We went for lunch on a Monday, the place was very quiet, food was good service was excellent as our brand new waiter was very attentive and informed.a very pleasant change for Joburg.well done on the training.
A bit chaotic. Table wasn't cleaned yet from previous sitters. It's definitely not Ristretto anymore.
Lovely and chilled experience. Perfect for a couple's date, family lunch and late drinks.
I love the restaurant for the big play area and I’ve gone there twice so my daughter can play freely, in both instance a I’ve experienced very bad service. The 1st time around the waitress was taking very long to attend to my requests, I asked for assistance to move closer to the area where my child was playing and that never happened. In the 2nd instance I got up to go watch my daughter play cause I wasn’t allowed to move to a sitting area closer and when I returned my spot was given to someone else despite me leaving our food and my daughters shoes there. I am not setting foot there again. The lack of good service and hospitality is appalling.
We visited yesterday and had pizza and drinks. Malva pudding was delicious. Service was prompt as well. Fresh ingredients on pizza and looks like a great setup. There is a huge play area for kids so we were surprised at the lack of customers. Maybe Tuesday 5pm is not a great time for any restaurant but this place deserves many more customers in my opinion.
All the best, guys.
The food was great, stuff on point and we all had a lovely time. The kids enjoyed the play area.
Hours posted are incorrect. We went for breakfast only to find we were an hour early, but not according to the website
I was really hoping this Dros would do well. It inherited a lovely large outdoor area with good children's playground equipment. Sadly each time I come the playground has deteriorated from the last time we were here giving the outside space a bit of a grubby and derelict feel. Today was windy so drink cans were blowing off tables and lying on the floor as were serviettes and papers which none of the outside waiters were included to pickup adding even more to the derelict feel. Service was also extremely slow. A manager was nowhere to be seen. This place has great potential if management just steps it up. Fix the playground equipment, get some child minders on the play areas on a weekend, security tags and train staff in service excellence.
Service was basic, the food a solid 4/10.
It was cold and there were no heaters, the whole atmosphere was just dull.
The food was not good, the prawns were over cooked and mushy, ordered medium done steaks and we got well done dry meat! Cocktails tasted like flavoured water, we had to return them twice. Just as i though it couldn't get worse, the Desert was even worse! Ordered a Brownie with ice cream, and the brownie was hard as Rock. Great environment for the kids to play but the Service & Food are just the pits!
I’m this economy - and the environment around midrand, this is a solid pub and grub.
I give all credit to Mike - the manager. He takes his job seriously and made the effort to resolve any challenges we had.
I recommend this place if you want a good - low energy experience with good ambience. Also - there’s a fire place by the bar - Always a bonus.
Very Roudy, Good play area for kids, lousy toilets with no soap or towels and the dryers don't work. It has become a men's bar rather than a family restuarant
The food was a bit bland, but the service was great. The servers were very sweet, atmosphere is very nice.
Terrible service. The manager on duty today was very rude. The steaks we ordered were not done well and he was fighting with us instead of apologizing. They also served us expired juices and still was defending himself. And his solution was to take the same steak and put it back on the stove. We allowed him to take 1 back and it still wasn't done well they just poured sauce on top. And we were not the only ones who asked to see the manager because of the bad food.
Amazing kiddie play area for mums looking to let the todlers run around while drinking a coffee.
Unfortunately when I was there with family our food was very late, items were missing from the food, and the bill didn't represent what we consumed.
Not sure if the waiter was new or what happend, but not keen on dinning there any Time soon
Also the seafood platter was raw
Today, this store lost a loyal customer in me.
The Dros website still states that kids eat for free on Sundays and to my surprise, the waiter tells me that the special was changed to Wednesday.
When I asked the waitress to call the manager so that he can request Dros to change their website and state that it only applies to certain stores. The waitress came back with a message from the manager stating that each store has a right to change its specials.
When I eventually confronted the manager about the misleading information on the website, he went on to tell me that their Facebook page has the update. As someone who does not use social media, there is no way I would have known this and therefore place 100% reliance on the Franchisor website as they are ultimately responsible for conveying all national specials information on behalf of the franchisee.
Please as Dros to specific which stores their specials apply in as it is misleading. At the very least, at least have some information at the store to warn customers where the national specials differ to the franchise specials.
I recently visited Dros and had a mixed experience that warrants a 3-star review. The restaurant itself was pleasant, and the food served was of good quality. However, there were a few aspects that left me somewhat disappointed.
Firstly, one minor but noticeable issue was the lack of saucers provided when our meals were served. It may seem like a small detail, but it's those little touches that contribute to a more complete dining experience. It would have been nice to have saucers alongside our meals to enhance the presentation and avoid any potential mess.
While seated in the bar area to enjoy the Man United match, we found the drinks to be quite enjoyable and up to par. However, one significant drawback was the intermittent muting of the match's sound. It was frustrating to have the audio cut out from time to time, as it detracted from the overall viewing experience. It would have been more enjoyable if the sound system had been consistent throughout the match.
Despite these shortcomings, the food at Dros was still of good quality, and the restaurant itself had a pleasant atmosphere. If you're looking for a place to grab a bite and enjoy a casual setting, Dros might be worth considering. However, it's important to be aware of the potential issues with saucers and audio interruptions during live broadcasts.
Edit: In the end they gave us paper plates which was very disappointing.
Service isn't their strong point.food made us all sick.commented on my husbands review that they removed the items from our bill.of course we didnt even eat the stuff that you had brought to us.we still ended off paying 1500 for the disgusting food! They have a great place with nice facilities but they are just useless when it comes to food.
