Currently in Eugene Marias after a big surgery. The Dr is wonderful but its the after care that's an utter disgrace! I have not been without pain since the surgery this morning. And living in the 21st Century this is ridiculous. I feel like I'm in a torture house! I literally wait 45min for pain meds, after the previous has worked out, and the dosage must be incorrect cause it's not even taking the pain away, the sister never comes and asks if the pain has subsided and thinks its just impossible that Im still in pain. I have general good pain tolerance, but this is torture. Worst of all this is now the 2nd time I have received poor after care here! The previous time the Dr forgot to write anything about pain meds and I was left without any pain medication after I had a cable inserted into my ankle.

Sisters can't insert drip injection. They don't monitor drip levels constantly. When you press call button be prepared to wait at least 5 minutes for attention. You must remind personnel of your medicine taking. Medicine ordered from pharmacy take hours to arrive

We went to the emergency service during the day and the nurses are not very friendly. Only one patient in waiting aera but still a 3hr waiting period for a cut on the hand. This is unacceptable they should attend to all patients we had to leave to go to other hospital.

I went there three times.
First time i was sick, so i was there for consultation. There was no hustle at all, the sister nurses were very friendly and informative.

For the second and third time was there to visit my boyfriend who underwent surgery. And the treatment and services were very great, friendly and informative. I highly recommend this Hospital

It was very good. Stay was good and food was good.
Signage of where to be help for admiting can be improved. Had to look around to get to right place to be helped

The maternity ward had a horrible experience, I wouldn't recommend this hospital at all, the nurses don't care about the well being of the patients at all and the fact that my pain meds wasn't given to me and were I had to get up the next day after my c-section was just horrible I even ended up not being able to walk back to my room from the toilet and broke down because of the pain I was in and lost blood, my babies pead had to step in imagine, this is not half of my experience 1 nurse told me I must stretch and push myself up and yet I had stitches it's so crazy, never again.

My husband had to go in for a small pre-booked operation on 25 January 2023. Booked in at 5: 40. Waited for a bed till almost 12: 00. So did 3 other patients. The excuse: SORRY, WE DON'T HAVE BEDS. How on earth can a hospital schedule operations and then don't have beds? He was supposed to go into theatre at 12: 30. Only went in at around 17: 15. It was supposed to be a half-day; then it became a full day and now we have to pay more.
Patients that came booked in later the day also had to wait for hours. The day nurses at Ward 2 were friendly, but not the night staff.

I received the best service from the maternity ward staff, theatre staff, not forgetting neonatal ICU staff

This hospital is going down the drain, after going to casualties they prescribed me medicine that clashes with my current medicine, this after I explicitly told them repeatedly about the medicine I am on. The doctor that took over at next shift just did not care to read my file or ask about my history, did not listen to anything I told her. She just had this you know nothing attitude, my house doctor confirmed with me that the medicine they prescribed can't be used with my current medicine and could be dangerous when used together. I might be looking to sue, will see. While being in casualties I also overheard the sisters putting down the phone in people's ears and then bragging about it to their colleagues. The overwhelming majority of people working here just don't understand their occupation that well, doctors, nurses and receptionists.

Rehabilitation centre is worst service I ever experienced in a hospital. Wont even take a dead cockroach there ever again.

My 79 year old mother has been in Eugene Marais Hospital for two weeks. Some of the male nurses shouted at her, because they could not understand what she wanted, she just come out of surgery and wanted a specific pain medication. If we visited her, they don't greet you at all. The one nurse said to my mother that she must not speak in Afrikaans to her. I mean are you not allowed to speak in the language you feel comfortable in? If my mother ask for some medication, they just ignore her. When she ask for the male nurse to call a female nurse to help her with her bed pan, they just don't come back at all. This is very sad and disappointing.

Thank you to all the staff at the emergency unit for helping us so fast yesterday when I brought my son in for stitches to his ear. Everyone was professional, friendly, helpful and supportive and it calmed both of us down. We truelly appreciate it!

I visited the trauma unit yesterday afternoon after cutting my finger badly at home. I live close to the hospital so its convenient for our family. I received 5 star treatment and was referred to go to theatre today. At the main hospital I was treated with 5 star treatment from start till finish. Thank you to all the staff members! Their was an elderly man next to me who recently had a hip replacement. I noticed that he also received this 5 star treatment. You guys rock! Till next time!

I was recently in a horrible car accisdent, the doctors and staff at Eugene Marais saved my life and help me to a full recovery. This was not my first visit to Eugene Marais hospital. But I would recommend it to anyone, to me this hospital is the best of the best in Gauteng really. From the staff, food or services provided, they care. Thank you really, Eugene Marais made sure I got to go home and be with my kids

I have been involved with medicine for some 60 years now, many of them relating to acute care/management. There is not a hospital anywhere in the world that does never have some setback or inadequacy somewhere along the line, simply because it is staffed by people, and we are all fallible. The secret is to keep our mistakes/ faults to the minimum, but totally eliminate is not possible, we dont live in a perfect world. Our private hospitals by and large maintain a very high standard,
as evidenced by the care that a close friend is currently getting in Eugene Marais. I would not hesitate to be treated there.

Went to the trauma unit for some issues I was having. Very sensitive issues I may add.
I was attended to by Dr Ndlela, a beautiful woman to the eye, but she was super cold and insensitive. Didn't give me all I needed to know about my results. It felt like I had to beg them out of her.
I would be happy to not have to be attended by her again.

Not all children have been trained to sleep in a cot (by themselves).
An adult bed should be given for the parent to be able to sleep with their baby

Amazing doctors. The worst receptions at casualty. Doesn't help that the type of service you get depends on the color of your skin either.

I had a bad experience at this hospital. They took time to attend to emergencies. To the nursing staff, patients are just statistics. They don't care how much pain you feel. They take their time. My bad experience was with the nurses that were on duty day and night on 2022-09-12. I endured pains without attention at Ward 1. I'm really disappointed I wouldn't recommend this hospital to anyone love.and care abo
