Far East Rand Hospital - Maternity Ward

Service is ridiculous, I waited more than 4 hours to be assisted. The nurses and sisters are all on their phones. When you ask over and over again you need urgent assistance as your a high risk pregnancy (they look at you and tell you to sit) when I eventually saw the Dr he proscribed medication and injections which was only given 6hours after I saw the Dr

Poor service. The staff there is clearly good when it comes to white people. How can nurses just stand there and make fun of women who are going through labour/contractions? The hospital is really dirty, toilets especially like what about hygiene? I wouldn’t recommend anyone on any day to go there, not even my worst enemy. The nurses and doctors do things at the own time even if you’re in so much need, they’ll just stand there and watch you and only assist you when they have nothing else to do. This hospital needs to be shutdown with immediate effect because no ways nurses and doctors are that cruel.

The best public hostel ever! This was my third time seeking for help and the service received was excellent! After spending a night without being helped at Kalafong hospital, my sister and I decided to go to Far East Rand hospital. The service was amazing from the Adam, while my sister was busy tracing my file the nurses were already busy with me, I was admitted at ward 4 where I was taken care of, the place is clean always, the nurses were all friendly I felt like had fund new relatives. The doctors are also friendly I really appreciate the service I have received. I wish all other public hostel employees can copy from this hospital. Salute!

I know you don't get to hear this alot. But I would like to thank you for the help with my son.
The ANW night staff that was in from the 8-9th of May you are stars. LoL your patience with crazy us when in pain is admirable. Thank you.
From now on I will never take what people say about nurses, all they said was not true. You were stars thank you again.

No parking for family of patients, parking only reserved for staff, the casualty ward smells like a filthy toilet, a long queue of patients who've been waiting for a Dr who's apparently assisting in theatre

This is the worst service you can get. Yesterday i took my son to for an arm injury. Just need x-rays. We arrived at 2pm and sat waiting for 8 hours with nothing being done. We watched how the staff sat on their phones and walked around doing nothing. We watched a man pass away in the passage and the staff had no idea the passing happened. We watched a man coming in with a head injury bleeding badly and the didn't help. The patients jumped in to get bandages to cover his head and ran to find a doctor to assist. Another man came in with stab wounds and he waited till the public had to ask to just cover the wounds. There was blood and vomit on the floor not being cleaned up. At 10pm last night I wanted to take my son home and they refused to let him go. Patients were treated like prisoners. The security, and sisters and the Dr from night staff were really rude. I will never recommend this hospital to anyone. If it was possible you would have no stars. This is Far East Rand Jail/hostage centre.

I would like to give the Maternity Wards and all the staff that work there a 5 Star!
I had my first baby there and they took care of us ️
Thank you so much for everything.
They give you food and something to drink within the day until night.
They are friendly, understandable and caring.
I would recommend anyone that is giving birth to go to this hospital as my experience was amazing.
The only thing I didn't like, was being alone and my boyfriend couldn't be there for birth, but they were only still following Covid protocols.
Other than that Thanks once again you guys are amazing ️
