InterContinental Johannesburg O.R.Tambo Airport, an IHG Hotel

Excellent location for a nights recovery after a long flight from Australia. Rooms well appointed, beds are excellent and one of the best showers a hotel can offer.

Great stay, very comfortable rooms, the food was amazing and walking distance from the airport.

The good: walk straight up to the hotel from terminal, friendly staff. Very impressive breakfast buffett, but for some reason the challenge of simply bringing a cup of coffee was too difficult and only arrived after 15mins and 3 requests. There is a gym, but threadbare except for cardio.
Improvement points: rooms a bit faded, clean but need a refresh. Gym has good cardio but only dumbbells for weightlifting - please just get a basic benchpress and a proper lat pulldown or assisted chin/dip station, there’s plenty of space.

Worst ever, i was there to check in for a room, and then my card was taken to bill me, but i then cancelled and said it is okay i wil get a different hotel, then a week and half later they bill me almost double for a room where I didn’t even stay, then i phone them to sort this out amd all they do is i will put you through.

We unexpectedly spent a night at this hotel last week when travel plans went askew. We couldn't have been more pleased. The staff was professional and accommodating and welcoming. Terrific room, spacious yet cozy and full appointed for our needs.

**I changed my Google name for privacy and am not staying at your hotel tomorrow night. I already emailed you all regarding the $100/ night surcharge for my additional guest and you told me you can't do anything about it. My three stays were August 15, August 19 and August 25 of this year. The email subject is "Confirmation # 25704205" for your reference.

Overall I gave 3-stars because over 3 separate stays, there was an issue with two of the stays.

The first stay was excellent - we had turn down service, chocolates out, water was out, mats on the floor, slippers, etc.

Second stay - we didn't have any of that done in our room

Third stay - none of that was done and they full well knew we had two people in the room becuase they charged me an extra $100USD / NIGHT for just one extra person. When I checked in, I confirmed there would be two of us as my original reservation only said one person (oops) and the person checking me in did not tell me it was going to be an extra $100 as I would have fought it a little considering I had JUST heard another person negotiate the additional person cost with someone else just a few minutes before me.

When I emailed about this, and as an IHG member, they said they couldn't change or refund or work with me on the price at all.

That's why I give 3-stars. In total, I spent almost $1,500USD for three nights with them and they woudn't even budge on meeting me halfway to charge only $50 for an additional person. Just in the end, I didn't feel like they cared about their guest, just collecting money especially since its highly unlikely I will be back to their hotel as I live in the US.

Stayed here for two nights, the hotel was clean and the rooms were very comfortable. Room service was efficient and they always call back to check on the food which was really a nice gesture. Hotel is 5 mins walk from the airport so it’s really convenient if you need to stop at JNB airport for a night.

Luxury and excellent are the pillars of intercontinental ORT.
I would not think twice before making a booking, Love that their kitchen is open 24 hours, so when you want to grab something very late you can always do! Love it.

Stopped off for some food and drink here to await a flight back to London. Very friendly staff members and quality facilities. High quality and delicious food

I was at the International Hotel only for lunch and the food was delicious. It is not cheap though. The place looks and feels and is upmarket, no doubt.

Beautiful surroundings. Nd the staff. Excellent services not does Grumpy one's.they know what customer service is.

We had a very long lay over between a domestic and international flight. Instead of hanging out inside the ORT building, with masks, we decided to have a leisurely lunch while waiting. A fantastic decision. They kindly offered to store our huge suitcases, while we sat outside on their patio with a lovely slow lunch. The food was great, friendly service, we could breathe without masks. The tables on the patio were far apart and it was just a great way to while away 4 hours. Stunning bathroom and other interior spaces.

I didn't stay at the Intercontinental, I actually came in for a covid test before traveling, but the hotel staff were amazing and helped me out of a really tight spot with something. Would 100% recommend.

The hotel is located just within a short walking distance from international arrival exit of O. R Tambo Johannesburg airport.
Very convenient if you need to stop at Johannesburg airport for a night and catch another local flight in the next morning.
Staffs are very polite and helpful.
Cleanliness is excellent.
It also has a high quality restaurant.

COVID-19 testing center is inside the hotel, so it's very convenient and even cheaper than the airport.

While waiting a few hours for our next flight, we had a lovely outdoor drink and lunch outside the indoor confines of the OR Tambo airport. Great, polite, friendly service.

Excellent service at the InterContinental hotel, 5 Star service. Rooms is very nice and clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. I can recommend this hotel to anyone for a wonderful stay over. Thank you Gugu for your excellent service, you're a star!
