Jhb Gen Hospital

My grandmother needs her gallbladder removed. Shes in so much pain and we just get told that she must come on Monday because they can't give her meds now, she needs it removed but you refuse to help!

My mother in law had hip replacement surgery done at this hospital. Overall experience was good. Just a funky smell in the ward

Doctors are excellent, security excellent, housekeeping great (exet 262), admin staff needs a shift in attitude though. Guys, if you are not happy in your job, find your passion. You are working with sick people, how about a smile now and then?

Uhm section 262, how about cleaning your equipment BEFORE you receive patients.

This hospital is not worth more than 1 star. My 6 year old granddaughter was admitted yesterday with a burst appendix and they might have to remove part of her intestines and she is still waiting to be operated on as they are waiting for a theatre according to the Dr's it's not an emergency. As far as I know a burst appendix can poison your system and you can die. For me a child should be a priority for medical care

There is a playground here in the hospital that is basically a showpiece of service level in South Africa. I have been to this hospital twice in the last 4 weeks. You know what I see? The same trash in the playground. You know what I have never seen? Kids using this playground. It's going to waste and not being maintained. It's locked even. So tell me or better yet show me proof of this being utilized by the children at the hospital school or hospital in general. Please get on top of maintenance of this area

The security guards are very helpful but there was no one at the reception desk to help people this was one of the best hospital but now it's so run down so sad
No outside maintenance so it looks terrible
The toilets were dirty and some where broken
Prisoners use the same hospital I would have expected there to be a separate entrance for them
I would have thought the health system would have come up with a better plan with their patient management but no people must still wait in long queues to be attended to get an app or use id's something to help the sick get fast medical attention there's no systems in place so very sad

Can someone please confirm how to formally lay a complaint against Jhb Gen Hospital?
My mother went to Jhb Gen for blood work, after queuing, she needed to get fresh air, she was in a wheel chair. As she exited the main doors, the front wheel broke and she flung off, landing on her face, arms, legs which is now grazed by the tar.
Paramedics cleaned her up and left.

She asked to see a doctor for blood work, she waited, the doctor (not wearing a name
Badge) literally chased her away, the nurse laughed at her when she said she needs help to report what just happened with the wheel chair.
First injuring herself because the wheelchair was faulty and then being told to leave and find help elsewhere and being laughed at for wanting to report an incident!

Miserable and unempatheric people that call themselves doctors and nurses that are meant to care for their patients wellbeing.

This should be dealt with and these people should be held accountable for negligence.

The hospital is clean nice friendly staff the services is good. Ward 375 sisters and nurses Malebo and staff members there are helpful. Patrick and staff members 163 emergency room helpful

Hospital is clean. Liver clinic spotless with excellent Doctors and nursing staff.

I was escorting a patient to the cardiac clinic & the service was wonderful they helped us timeously we arrived at 8 & by 11 we were already leaving

They did not answer their phones at all. The doctors and nurses do not listen to their patients. None of the emergency bells work at the beds.
This was one of the top hospitals in the 80's. It has gone backwards like the rest of this country.

Took a lady I know for her to gave brain Surgery. Wow the ward was very clean and they very professional. Level 6 I think.

Could never get hold of a doctor or nurse as the lines are always down. When my mom passed the nursed called me off her own cellphone. Got a call a few days later from another nurse asking if anyone had contacted us to let us know my mom had died, because sometimes they will only call the family a week later, because no one has airtime. They can't find my mom's belongings and they were not with the body. The nurse lied and said and said they were, but we saw my mom placed into the funeral van with nothing. Haven't heard back from them. The wards are always dirty and there is always some kind of body fluid on the floors. The security there is rude and unhelpful as well. They are just bullies. Don't even get me started on another nurse, because when my mom had to be readmitted she said were were not giving time for the medicine to work, but then looked panicked when she saw my mom's oxygen levels. You go to a hospital for help and they treat people like rubbish. I really thought they would help my mom, but for 3 months she was there and they couldn't tell me what was wrong.

If you know the processes you'll have a good experience, it's when you don't that when it's hectic.

I was transferred from Edenvale hospital to Jhb Gen, this afternoon, the service rendered by the admissions staff was fast and efficient.
The admission staff at the orthopaedic ward was fast efficient, helpful and friendly. They were willing to assist me at every stage of my admission. My special thank you goes to Dr A Premlall and Dr MJ Markram.
Dr A Premall was very friendly and thorough his attention to detail and attitude was beyond reproach. Dr Markram ensured that i was fully aware of the issues with my shoulder and was very professional and friendly.i am so pleased to say my experience was fantastic

Very disappointed very bad service. Was there on Sunday with my dad he had leukemia and needed blood he had a booking for Tuesday but he needed help on Sunday and there were no doctors on duty! They let us walk out without seeing anyone
He past away on Tuesday morning
This hospital can really close down its a wasted of money for the government

Very bad service in line for operation eye surgery since 6.h00 people after us going before us.

The Dr's are highly skilled and the centre very well maintained.

Treatment is of a very high standards.

Room for improvement at ward clerks as they sometimes very abrupt and slow.

Overall very much recommended

All ways good talking for the Doctors and nurses and all the contributors for kipping our Hospitals and adder's facilities on good shape for services and serving the Citizens of South Africa (and from adder Countries) on they best abilities, knowledge, experience and professionalism. I am here now with my son who is 17yrs old. He has had a severe siezure and is vomiting. There is NO assistance here. We have been here now for 1hr. No one to help. The sister said a dr wil help him now now. When is that? It was 45 mins ago! This is pathetic! This is not a hospital, this is a joke!
