I'd like to thank the nurses at Glynnwood Maternity Ward for making me feel like I owed them an apology for having my baby there.

I wasn't shown how to breastfeed properly. I had to beg someone to take me and baby for a bath.

The one evening I shivered myself awake. That was a great feeling after a C Section.

The nurse that checked myself and baby out on Saturday. Please don't be a nurse.

You do not have time or patience for new mommies.

I did not get all my medication that I needed on check out. So this morning I had to shuffle in pain to Dischem.

Thank goodness for the amazing gynea, lovely physios and pediatrician.

The Maternity Ward doesn't even deserve a 1star.

Wow all but one of the nurses on this ward I have spoken to are unbelievably apathetic. They mumble on the phone but scream down the corridor to get someones attention. How professional does it sound to answer the phone with just Yebo? I can only hope the care they give the patients is better than their unenthusiastic communications skills although I doubt it.

The maternity ward at the Glynwood is neat and clean. The rooms are quite small compared to other maternity ward, however, they do appear to be more modern than some of the other hospitals.

We’ve been here twice in the last 3 weeks. The first time, the nursing staff really seemed quite pleasant. They were caring and and really seemed to take a keen interest in my wife and her issue. This time, the nurses seem much older. They also seem very disinterested and are really dragging their feet around the ward. I get the sense that we are just another number and they are almost resistant to helping when compared to the last lot of nurses.

I’ve never had a good experience with any of the security people managing the entrance to the maternity ward. They always seem extremely mixed out that they have to key in the code to open the door. Perhaps they are just underpaid and unhappy that they have to work night shift?

The recovery rooms seem really comfortable. Overall, the place is okay. I wouldn’t call it a world class experience. In general, I find little value for money from private healthcare in South Africa - the maternity ward at the Glynwood hospital is no exception.
