Machics Restaurant and Alehouse

If you are looking for a great pub in the east of Pretoria you should give Machics a try, cosy pub atmosphere, good chow and to many drinks to mention. Staff is on the ball and the barman knows how to cook some great cocktails.

Best chicken in town. Since Tarras closed down I was looking for tasty chicken. Found it here.

R140 for this, my 1st time at this restaurant and my last. Over priced for 3 pieces of sausage cut in halve never ever again.

Overpriced and really really long wait for food to arrive. Food was unfortunately not worth the wait.

Machics, they have a wide variety of food on menu, wines and most of all draught beers, hands on owners for a very good service, Jaco & Dirk on top of their game all the time

My kids enjoyed their burgers and riplets menus. Our chicken was awful - so clearly this is a Grill and burger place.
There's something that disturbed me last night - I pay a 1 glass of Stella Beer for some R48 and and Kanonkop wine for R205! And then get forced to pay 10% tip? The amount of tip demanded can buy granny a full meal.

I love this place! Great cozy atmosphere, a lovely selection of gins and beers and superb comfort food like pies and curries. I like that the menu is varied but not too extensive - that can be exhausting. I had the munchies platter with fries, chicken strips, ribs, samoosas, fried halloumi and a sauce (I chose Peri Peri and I'm very happy I did). The fries aka slapchips were the best I've had in a loooong time. Every item was so tasty. If you're looking for an intimate pub-like venue with a great menu and friendly service then check out Machics!

This place is a nice cosy restaurant.great venue to host a birthday lunch. I was invited to one.excellent service.warm friendly staff. Thank u Machics. I'll be back!

The atmosphere in the resturant was so like pubs in the UK, loved it! Social distancing was adhered to & all waiting staff wore masks.
The waiter reccomended the peri peri chicken on the menu and truly it was the best I've ever had. My husband chose the liver & onions and he said it was delicious.
Definitely worth a visit.

I enjoy going to Machics. I've always recieved good service and enjoy their wide variety of beers on tap. The food is excellent too, but a bit pricey for my taste. Machics gets better the busier it is.

If you like pub lunches this is one to go to. Their portion size is great and is well priced. The friendly fast service makes it even more enjoyable.

Really nice atmosphere with a great selection of beers and very good food at a decent price!
. Since this previous review the beer selection shrunk, servive is a lot dlower, cleanliness went out the window & the food quality compared to price changed noticably. Used to be our favourite place, rather no longer go there, go to alternative pubs.

Best Per-Peri chicken in South Africa.without any close contenders. I have eaten peri-peri chicken in plenty of different restuarants and have come to the conclusion that it's a waste of time as Machics has set the bar to high for anyone to even come close to their standards.
