Hospital Mediclinic Morningside reviews
60Recently had surgery at Mediclinc Morningside, the staff from admission to discharge were all friendly, helpful and professional. The surgical ward staff are amazing. Surgical team just brilliant. So happy I chose this hospital.
I visited the ER and was seen to by the doctor on call, Dr Claire Collins. The ER was not full at all but extremely slow with little to no feedback given unless asked. Dr Collins was extremely patronizing and seemed inexperienced. I was discharged late at night despite having concerns about managing my condition at home and no access to a pharmacy to fill my prescription at that time of night. 3 days later I had to return to ER (another hospital) as my symptoms worsened and I was immediately admitted and told I should have never been discharged from ER.
I spent a month in the hospital last year and from the doctors to the cleaners were great! Best care ever. Thank you Morningside team for making a terrifying experience bearable.
Came in for a procedure! Slept over a few nights……Thank you to everyone, doctors, nurses, kitchen staff, cleaning & everyone else working at the maternity ward for taking really good care of me! They treatment was tops
Amazing experience after my sister was really sick she was taking care very well by Doctor Morris an his team
I had a full hip replacement operation by Dr J Botha on 20th September 2023. I was in the Orthopaedic hi-care for two nights/days. I had the best care by the nursing staff I’ve ever experienced in a hospital. My thanks and gratitude to you all for being so kind and professional!
I’ve never experienced such bad service and incompetence from staff at Mediclinic morningside. Disappointed is an understatement. Imagine being cared for by people who don’t care. Absolutely fuming at what I just witnessed.
My mom went in today to the orthopaedic ward for a procedure. From the moment we walked into the hospital to the moment we left we were treated like royalty! The reception staff, nurses and even the porters were amazing! All the staff walking around greeted us and were smiling. Amazing, amazing amazing! Well done keep it up.
On the 13th of June my 84 year old grandmother was admitted into the medical ward and on the 14th of June her phone was stolen from the medical ward and the sister that was on duty was sister Naomi we have filled out an incident report and await feedback. Security is just not good enough in this hospital. This is absolutely pathetic. The hospital should replace the phone that was stolen and buy her a new one. Going forward security needs to be on high alert.
I went in for an operation 24 July. I was admitted in the maternity ward. My experience was so pleasant. The nurses was so helpful and friendly and made my stay feel shorter. There was nothing that I could point out that was bad. I also want to give compliments to the restaurant staff, there is so many options to choose from, the food was well presented and tasteful, it felt like a hotel stay, normally when you’ve had an operation you don’t want food, but I was excited getting my food every time. I was released today 27 July and I was actually sad leaving all the wonderful staff behind. Thank you Mediclinic Morningside for making my stay at the hospital nice.
My wife was recently in ICU which I believe there was great care
> When moved to the dark dingy depressing ward (needs re vamp ASAP) that’s where the caregiving stopped
I have given this a lot of thought and bottom line your experience is all dependent on the NURSES and to lesser extent reception Etc
In my opinion
There seems be 2 type of nurses at Morningside
1) the Florence Nightingale type who are passionate about nursing and their patients
They take pride in how and what they do everyday
2) the so called Nurse, who is there because this is a job (these types are unfortunately the vast majority) as it’s clearly JUST A JOB
Nursing to them is neither a profession nor a dedication
I repeat it’s quite simply a job!
It’s sad and unacceptable that these people are masquerading as nurses and undermining the whole profession
On a positive note there was small few staff that stood out for excellence and great care but alas they were a very small minority
Ultimately Morningside Clinic is accountable as they make the profits and employ these Charleton’s!
Very Sad what is happening
My husband was booked into the Surgical Head and Neck Ward on 13 June for an emergency op. Brilliant attendance by nurse Cynthia Phiri and Nadhir. Both were professional, great communication at all times and treated him with such compassion! Thank you to you both!
Excellent care from Martenity ward nurses. All of them are friendly, patient and compassionate. Best place to give birth.
I had such a positive experience at Morningside mediclinic for a day surgery, amazing kind staff, very helpful when getting my medical aid approval. The nurses were great and I appreciated when on leaving my medication was all already ready to go at the pharmacy.
Terrible experience in the ER. If you have a medical emergency DO NOT GO HERE, you will encounter dismissive staff and nurses and all round awful interactions. I was in distress when I arrived and had my blood pressure and glucose checked and since that apparently was fine I was left to sit shivering and shaking for over 2 hours not knowing what was happening to me, no help at all. My partner tried to find out what the procedure was and was told that the nurse had told me the procedure already so she didn't have to explain to him again, really! I wasn't in any condition to take in procedural instructions and the nurse was disinterested and quite rude. After 2 hours of waiting we left, I rather risked going home and then having to go to another emergency room than sit there. I am in disbelief at how terrible this hospital experience was.
My surgeon was excellent and post Op care was also great but then someone steals my overnight bag!? That's so poor I don't know what to say.
4 March update: Okay, I am very happy to say that after a week my bag has been found by nurse. Still slightly odd for me but can say that my overall experience with staff at the clinic is really excellent so I'm upgrading my rating to 4 stars. Thanks so much to those people for amazing care!
I am typing this from the surgical ward. I am leaving tomorrow even if my Doctor doesn't discharge me. I was admitted at 1 pm and the time is now 10 pm and I haven't eaten. I was told that food was served when I went for my MRI scan. Wow. I haven't been given any medication since I got here yet I am dying headache. I am sure I would get better service from a public hospital
Excellent service delivery from the security, to the porters, reception staff, nurses, doctors, surgeons and other professionals. It has been an unparalleled hospital experience for me. Every single person I engaged with was kind and helpful. And I am so grateful, I feel that this overall treatment has treated not just my body but my soul too.
***ORTHOPAEDIC WARD*** date 12 January 2023
I have never been in such an unhappy and unprofessional environment. From the way your nurses speak to patients to the delays in issuing medicine on time (which was never)
Your nurses lack care and compassion. It’s almost as if they are extremely unhappy to be here and take it out on their patients due to their own personal work issues which they openly discuss amongst each other.
They hire temp nurses from public hospitals that’s don’t understand the patients history and it creates panic for everyone.
Never the less- people come here to seek healing and help, to have a nurse tell a patient “I only have two hands what do you want from me? ” Is just so sad to hear. The lady was afraid if she didn’t get her meds on time she would go blind and that’s the response you give to someone who is afraid?
This is one place I will not return to be admitted. Humanity has failed us again.
