Moonshine Menlyn

We visited for a quick bite before our concert at Sunbet arena. Moonshine is just outside the arena, so it's an obvious choice unless you settle for the regular franchise restaurants.

The restaurant has seating inside and outside for those perfect summer days. The decor and indoor seating are mixed with your normal tables and chairs, they have the high chairs and tables, and then there are cute round cubicles for a more intimate feel.

The menu is just okay. There's not a huge variety, but it's okay to fill that gap.

We ordered the NY pizza, basically pepperoni pizza. I didn't have a lot of expectations from the pizza (I mean, you can't go wrong with a pepperoni pizza). To my surprise, the pizza was delicious. Clay oven pizzas just taste so much better. They were not shy on the toppings either. The guys making the pizza are so happy it kinda explains why their pizzas taste so good.

They even have a dj area, I'm assuming it's a vibe here.

Situated right outside the Sunbet arena at Timesquare in Menlyn is the cosy place. We greeted warmly at the door and given a table. Had some cocktails to start off with (whiskey sours and liquid moonshine) which were absolutely delicious. Also added a black label draught which was nice and cold. Didn't order mains but ordered alot of small plates to share. We had the chicken wings with parmesan dip (hot, very hot), tempura squid, Jalapeño cigars, Louisiana chicken tenders and halloumi fries. All came hot to the table and were super delicious. Food is very affordable and service was great (big ups to our waitress Sihle). We ended off with an oyster and cactus jack shooters. Will definitely be returning to try out more of the cocktails as well as the mains and pizzas which looked good. Great experience and will definitely recommend!
