Pigalle Restaurant Bedfordview reviews
42I could probably give the food a 5 star rating because the starters were perfect. However, I ordered Lobster Thermidor. On the menu it was advertised as R115 per 100gm. The waiter informed me that 300gm was the smallest I could order, which I did. The taste was fine but the amount of lobster, which was presented back in it's shell was hardly 50gm. Definitely a rip off in my book! Don't order the lobster there.
Stunning food and wonderful service. Such a harming waiter, Eric is fabulous. Just remember, make a booking!
On 2 occasions the castle light draft was off. Bits of white stuff floating in it. They did respond well but still. On the upside food and ambience is excellent.
Waited nearly for an hour for the food, me and my husband know our seafood, but honestly saying there "so called lobster" was nothing to get excited about, will not go and dine there againour meals was very, very disappointing
Food was excellent!
Thank you.
Would like to sagest to train waiters how to serve the food correctly.
Restaurant that level needs well trained staff.
Water was brown and a employee touched my son in his shoulder for no reason shame he got so scared he started crying horrible experience
Great place, lovely atmosphere and service would definitely recommend as a intimate party venue or get together
Pigalle is on the top of the list of my favorite restaurants. The service is always top-notch, the food is absolutely delectable and the atmosphere on the outdoor deck is lovely.
An all-round fantastic dining experience.
We had a beautiful evening served by Eric. We went for our Anniversary had a good treat the seafood platter was delicious thank you for a great evening
Ambiance is good, one of the more expensive restaurants around.
Had the calarami which was under seasoned the sauce it came with was a redeeiming factor else there would be no flavor, the tomatoe salad was R115 but was literally just tomatoes cut up and tossed in basil with a few mozzarella balls, but really not the special and not worth the price as there was also a bit chunk of tomatoe with the center not cut out, there was 3 small pieces of fried tomatoe skin which didn't make any difference to it tasting like a tomatoe skin.
The Tomahawk steak which was R440 was very chewy, comes to the table already cut but wasn't worth the price.
Service I would say was ok, servers weren't the friendliness. Overall a very average experience at a very expensive price.
I used to love everything about the fireroom but the last two times I was so disappointed. It is always packed and the service but so great anymore. The whole atmosphere has changed.
We have always used Pigalle as a venue for special occasions and its never disappointed until recently our last 3 experiences have been ok to horrendous and the last one was the cherry on top, Pigalle has gone from an upmarket venue with superb food to feeling like the average Shebeen with old stale rice served with powdery prawns, very sad to this establishment go down hill.
While the atmosphere was nice for us, I had high expectations of this place and was disappointed. I felt the waitress oversold is on the starter, which too much for 2 people whichs polit my appetite for the main dishes. Also not very attentive. As we eat out once to twice a week we know the going rates on food and I felt it was slightly overpriced. The selection of teas is minimal as everywhere else in South Africa. Not sure how much overheads would be effected by having a selection of teas besides back and rooibos. Would we go back.maybe.
Hadn't been back here in more than 5 years and it didn't disappoint. I had the whole line fish and my wife had the lobster which we both enjoyed. My daughter had the brisket and my son had a burger.
Our waitress was attentive and helpful in making food and drinks choices.
Highly recommended.
Check your bill. Our bill had food on that we never ordered. They did fix it immediately when we brought it to their attention. Last items On the invoice.
Ah, I have no words. What was suppose to be a chilled minimal dinner with my besty ended up being an a splurge of the seafood platter which we completely klapped. We ate like we had just come out of a hole and we finished the platter, just kept going in for more. I know they're specialty is seafood but I'm convinced it's actually butter! My goodness! The bread came with a slightly herbed butter which was salty and incredible. The meal came with Garlic butter, lemon butter and peri peri. It was sooo good, you wouldnt be blamed for drinking the stuff. Dessert was the perfect balance of a warm pudding and a cold icecream. Lastly. Our waiter was French speaking Eric. Very attentive, very present and super knowledgeable. Money well spent. Highly recommend
To use an analogy, a dinner/experience of 2 halves! Arrival OK, shown to table, looks fairly smart, gives an impression of trying to be upmarket, didn't live up to it!
Initial service fine, drinks arrived OK, starters were good.
Then I ordered Lamb Rump for main, with Polenta fries. Dish arrived, didn't quite look like lamb, didn't taste of lamb either, wife tasted & agreed. Called waiter, who stated it was lamb and then got manager, who came & confirmed it wasn't lamb, never happened before in 13 years!
Was replaced after awhile, wife's food now cold. No Polenta fries came, asked about them and was asked if I wanted fries? Brought regular fries and said Polenta would follow, never did!
As a way of apology, manager offered a coffee, then a liqueur, neither of which we drink at end of dinner. Then agreed on a glass of a good red. Were brought 2 glasses of chilled red that was actually colder than the white. Obviously a cheap wine from either a bottle open for sometime or maybe a box.
Manager never appeared again, because he was eating his meal with another member of staff in amongst the customers!
Not achieving that upmarket aspiration.
Always such a great night out as I know we will be welcomed with their hospitality and great food. Highly recommended
Wonderful dinner with our grandbabies. Though I was unable to drink wine due to medication, the wine list is magnificent and I WILL be back to sample some of the brilliant wines on the list. Shepard was amazing, he new the menu and he suggested some great items.
Thanks for a great evening
The rude man by the door who refused to give us cake table ruined the evening when later he confronted and threatened us while we were having drinks to wear masks or he will call the cops.but he himself and other patrons weren't wearing a mask but he chose to attack us.very very dissapointed
