Poppy's Restaurant

Booked a table a month ago for a friend's birthday party, asked Poppy for banking details to secure entry and our table. Was told we can pay at the door since our table was booked. Called her last week to confirm, everything was still ok. One of my guests flew in from Durban, especially for last night's event. Got to the venue last night and entry was refused, because we didn't have tickets. Called her numerous times, but not even once answered my calls. DJ Jazzy eventually let us in but we had to pay more than the entry fee. No table secured.towards the end of the evening, one of my guests were attacked inside of the venue by some hooligan, security had to escort us out to my car, so we could leave the venue safely. FOR SOME OF US WAS THE FIRST AND LAST TIME GOING TO POPPY'S. SENT HER A WATSAPP WITH NO RESPONSE. WORST PLACE EVER!

Sometimes you just need to be where everybody knows your name. The place is very welcoming.

It’s the second time this has happened to me, even after BOOKING… it is said that tables are booked but upon arrival there is no availability… it’s Mother’s Day and we brought our mothers to Poppys but they have to now stand and wait or sit outside in the cold…

Music great. Level of service poor, food very disappointing. The manager on duty had an attitude of note. We will never return there to dine. The place was not busy at all but we were kept waiting. Not a good experience after all I have heard about Poppies.

Love the food here and very affordable. The best place to be away from the under 30's. Very mature crowd and the music is everything. Safe parking

Great place to dance. Matured crowed the food is always amazing and fresh. Friendly service. I am sure to visit here again.

The service was excellent. The food was so delicious and reasonably priced. But the soft drink got finished. That was the only disappointment. But I'd give it a 5-star. Hands down!

Place has a nice vibe food is great, id recommended it for someone who wants to enjoy a nice meal and listen to live performances

The food was utterly satisfying and brilliantly flavoured. Haven't had a meal as great as that out of my house in a long while. Vibe and people were just as good

Very beautiful upgrade from 7de Laan and awesome weekday specials, they ain't shy! Really good service, awesome vibe, friendly waiters. If you around Randburg/ Braamfontein.this is definitely a family spot you want to bring your visitors to!

It is a great place but the place can do with some upgrading, modern interior design will be great!

Had a great time here, wonderful after the lockdown, only complant is the dj always away from his mixing desk playing recorded mixes, he killed the vibe

The service was superb from Nomcebo (I think that was her name) such a service driven young lady. We sat out on the balcony, a little noisy. We had the seafood platter which was very good. The cappuccino was not a cappuccino.

The waiters take two hours to serve your drinks and food.no side plates and serviettes come with your meal. The meal is served in drips and drabs

Ambience is lovely, however took some visitors from the coast who desperately wanted to visit the place and was greeted by tiffany chairs in plastic covers, instant let down.why should i sit with chairs in plastic wrappers as if Im in some warehouse. No drinks menu and our waittress was really not friendly or accommodating. It would be nice if a drinks menu were available. Totally disgusted

No safe parking my car and another car was broken into whilst at poppys. On the 19th of February 2021 Rather take an uber and not drive there.

Top today. Warm welcome, good atmosphere, clean and waiters are pleasant very welcoming, background band playing, DJ on standby on the otherside.couldnt stay late today but super chilled spot for Sunday afternoon as well. We had lunch and drinks price within range. Well done Poppy

Great comedy open mic sessions on Mondays. Their food is also amazing. They are a bit understaffed though, resulting in waiters taking long to take orders (and sometimes forgetting your orders). Otherwise great vibe.

Was not there for long, but, I enjoyed the vibe and feel of the place - then I got to taste their food. OMG! We ordered a salad and a pizza. The salad was unexpectedly delicious and I felt in salad heaven. It had avocado, grilled calamari and roasted cashews.the BEST combo I have ever tasted! The Pizza was mouth watering and you can imagine that there was none left.

Overall, this place is a definite must! Whether it is for a function or just casual dining, you will not be sorry.
