Salsa Mexican Grill Menlyn reviews
28 Very disappointed by my first and last visit to this restaurant. Setting and ambience were pleasant enough but I found the nacho dish over priced and saturated with mayo which is a weird ingredient to put in this dish. No where on the menu does it state your meal will be served drenched with this condiment. As far as I’m aware Mayo is not an ingredient, and it is also not part of traditional Mexican culture or cuisine.
At R160.00 this was expensive compared to other Mexican restaurants, lacking any real flavor as the salsa component was just a bland uninspired tomato sauce… basically this mediocre meal was mostly a mush of corn chips and mayo served under some molten cheese. At least it looked good on the plate and a good match to the photo on the menu. I was even more disgusted when I got home however and checked the bill again when I realized our waiter Taini had not told me there was an extra charge for the sour cream that came with it… as this is usually a standard accompaniment I feel he should have told me. This comes across as underhand and swindling service. So way to go Taini, you pushed up my bill by R25.00 (making a charge of R 185.00 for the nacho dish!) increased the tip I regret giving you, and now have permanently alienated a customer…
Public of Pretoria, if you’re in the mood for something sad, spendy, dull and generic serving as an insipid vehicle for mayonnaise look no further than this sorry sly spot no self respecting Mexican would be seen dead in!
Or just buy a few jars of your favorite mayonnaise at your local supermarket and fill a bowl with it at home…. Yummy.
Unpleasant, I actually drove 60 km to dine at this place, The hostess outside was unfriendly and no one attended to us after 20 minutes, had to leave, will never visit again
Would not recommended Mexican Salsa Menlyn Maine.
We had a unpleasant and unacceptable experience at Mexian Salsa Menlyn Maine.
We had a booking at bounce for the children's birthday party on Saturday- so we arranged that everyone meet at Mexican Salsa for drinks and lunch afterwards. My daughter and her boyfriend went ahead to get a table for us and this is how bad the management and waiters treated them:
"When we arrived I asked for a table for 3. My girlfriend then said make it a bigger one because there might be more people coming. The waiter then implied she was lying since our first reply was for 3 people. We sat at a bigger table after an unnecessary discussion with this waiter. He informed us he will let us know if the table has been booked. He never did. A while later a blonde woman came to us and said “I am warning you the table has been booked at 15: 00 and you will need to move to another table”. After about an hour we decided that we will do so. As we sat down at our new table a man which seemed like the manager asked if we are okay and we said “yes, for now”. No one came to our table after that except
when my girlfriends mother showed up informing us we should move again (keeping in mind no reserved signs were present on any of the tables). My girlfriend told the waiter that no one served us at that table and he raided his voice claiming that he indeed did. Once we were visibly dissapointed everyone started acting helpfull. "
I told the waiter to watch the way he speak to my daugter after being very arrogant - he just laughed at me.
We were regular customers - after this terrible experience we will never support Mexican Salsa again.
Very Disappointing behavior from the staff.
The pork ribs was so terrible. Not tasty. It was just like boiled then rubbed with tomato sauce. The most terrible pork ribs I ever had in my life.
Not accommodating, requested to be placed on the waiting list for tonight and Alwyn was not willing to assist, even after mentioning that we have 3 kids and cannot afford to stand at the door for an hour. Very disappointed.
Just been told to move from the chairs that we chose and move to chairs next to the aisle cause there might be other people who are better who will not like to seat were its busy.
In 2019.in our land ppl.mtshw.
Always love coming here! But tonight we sent back 3 meals because it was cold.came back, still cold! It's not acceptable. It's not that busy, and it's not your first night of service.
Atmosphere is great but the food is very expensive for what you get. Portions have become smaller and smaller. R176 for pulled pork nachos is way over priced.
Very cramped, no wheelchair or stroller access, not kid friendly, no baby changing facilities
great food and cocktails.a bit expensive, mostly for young couples without children or older couples.
Waiter was quick to disappear, had to regularly look for him when ordering
Waiter took a long time to bring out the food and drinka however they were amazing!
Lastly, we did not appreciate random extras such as an extra drink and extra fries being added to the bill even though it was resolved after a long dispute.
The food is decent, the service is decent, but their cocktail jugs are ridiculously tiny, especially compared to other Salsas
Loved it. I enjoyed my food and was happy to be served some Bernini since most restaurants only have 2 kinds of ciders. One of owners was kind enough to let us sit at a table that was reserved for later.
The food was great. But the same fillings were used in different dishes. I'd like to see/taste more variety. But their drinks are a rip off.
Food was okay, I had the chicken fajita, chicken tasted like it had simply been reheated not cooked fresh which resulted in it being extremely chewy and the soft shell tacos where Ice cold, these are suppose to be served warm (had chicken fajita in the us and Mexico and it's always served warm). Overall just a mediocre experience
Best Mexican food in town. All the flavours you will like if you love Mexican. The craft Tequila will get the party started
I had such a great time. I went on a Sunday afternoon with my brother. I hadn't booked but we still got a pretty nice seat inside. The waiters are so friendly and the food was so good. The vibe was great, they made sure to keep it Mexican from the music to the decor. If you ask nicely or if it's your birthday they'll give you a huge Mexican hat to wear while eating. That really put a smile on my face.
As a tequila lover, the variety was THERE. So many options and so many pretty drinks too! Definitely coming back.
The hostess had a bit of an attitude with us but, otherwise, Salsa Menlyn Maine is a total jol! Great food, great atmosphere, and free shots! Love it.
It's quite a welcome addition to Menlyn Maine restaurants, it just adds Mexican flavour to the mix, that said, the food is good but a little dry, lacks the kick that you get in the US or Mexican restaurants, nonetheless it's a great place and definately worth trying.
It's probably one of my most favourite, if not my most favourite restaurant to visit!
The food is great, decent portions for the price and they have an interesting selection of drinks, cocktails, shots, etc.
The service is good and it has a great vibe with live music, I would highly recommend anyone to visit Salsa, especially when it's someone's birthday!
I have a lovely experience at Salsa Mexican Grill Menlyn. They have great food, interesting drinks and very friendly service. It was quite cold so the waiter provided each of us with a blanket as we were sitting outside - I think this is a very thoughtful gesture.
