Salvation Cafe reviews
40Amazing venue with excellent service and delicious food. The cheesecake is, of course, the best in Gauteng, but honestly, so is the carrot cake. In over a decade of dining there, I have yet to find any meal I dislike. Everything is done to perfection. Prices are reasonable. Service is excellent.
Great place, went with team from work. Portion could have been bigger, couldn't find favourite ingredient on my plate. Food delicious especially the cakes. Only issue with atmosphere is a little noisy for me - could only communicate with a handful of people at the table. Service guides, well managed and would like to go again.
PS. Paid parking didn't seem secure so parked on the street with car guards
So, there I was, folks, in this hipster paradise, chewing on the most life-changing toastie you could imagine. It was so good, it could solve world peace. But, oh boy, did this place come with a side of drama.
The Manager, a dude who probably thought he was the king of the kaleidoscopic café, gets into a heated argument with the Waitress. And when I say heated, I mean they were practically doing the tango over the counter. I was just trying to enjoy my toastie, you know?
The Manager, not content with just one show-stopping performance, decides to throw in the race card. Yeah, you heard that right. The guy pulls the race card out of his pocket like it's a get-out-of-jail-free card. Classic move.
Then, out of the woodwork comes this [white] colleague, who decides to try and bring some sanity to the situation. The Manager, feeling the pressure, drops this bomb: "Just because you're white, you can't tell me what to do. You're not the manager. "
I kid you not, even his BLACK colleagues are giving him the side-eye, like, "Dude, what's the color of your skin got to do with anything? " It was like watching a soap opera, but with worse dialogue.
So there he is, the Manager, chest puffed out, strutting around like a peacock with a superiority complex. I'm pretty sure he thinks he's the alpha male of the coffee jungle.
And that, my friends, is how I inadvertently stumbled into a live performance of "The Patriarchy Chronicles: Café Edition. " Complete with a soundtrack of passive-aggressive background music. Bravo!
As I walked out, toastie conquered and drama unfolding behind me, I couldn't help but think, "Well, that was the most entertaining lunch break I've had in a while. " And there you have it, the absurdity of life served on a plate, or in this case, on a hipster-approved piece of artisanal bread. Oh, and there is definitely no "Salvation" at that place. Cheers to the unexpected theatrics of everyday life!
Absolutely loved the restaurant, I'd never been to that side of town, it was a pleasant surprise. Food was amazing, I thoroughly enjoyed my first try of the Gorgonzola burger, it was breathtaking. I would definitely recommend the restaurant.
A tranquil setting to start and a really great buzz. The food is excellent and the service too.
The ambiance here is simply gorgeous, making it the perfect spot for a leisurely Saturday spent having some lighthearted fun with loved ones. The food is undeniably amazing and ranks among the best. You can clearly discern the quality, likely because the owner is often present and overseeing things, ensuring you receive top-notch food. The atmosphere almost transports you to a serene forest, adding to the overall charm of the place.
This place is simply fantastic. That’s all there is to it. We had one of the “duos”, which was the royale Benedict and Caribbean flapjacks. Both meals were absolutely delicious, beautiful flavors and beautifully prepared and presented. I could come here everyday
The atmosphere and the food definitely awesome. I had the Vietnamese salad with chicken and my friend had a beef burger. We both loved our food
I love the "The outside urban" experience and people watching. But I wouldn't go there if the food wasn't good. Best Eggs Benedici in Jozi and great calamari for lunch!
Tasty food. Great service. Lovely location. Reasonably priced. I went here with my son and we really enjoyed the food and the vibe. Worth checking out. Friendly waiters too!
Went on a solo date. Tasty food with reasonable prices. Lovely clean location. Friendly waiters. I really enjoyed the service.
Menu is a little lacking beautiful surroundings great vibe and you'll always bump into a celebrity
Had not been since lockdown and was so pleased that they have survived Covid. A great time was had by all and we loved the sound of the fountain while having our lunch.
They have really fresh and tasty food. Be willing to wake up super early to go there or stand in a queue. This place closes much earlier than the other restaurants in 44 Stanley but it's worth it
I was so pleasantly suprised with how delicious the food was. I had the Egyptian bunless burger with halloumi cheese and it had great flavors. The atmosphere is very calming. It gets very full so I would recommend getting a reservation. Perfect breakfast/lunch spot. 44 Stanley is such a hiddden gem. Can't wait to come back and enjoy their menu.
I love it here! It’s beautiful, the food is delicious oh my word the whole atmosphere is something else. I literally come here and forget I’m in South Africa
Salvation Cafe is one of the best brunch spots in Johannesburg. We went on a freezing cold day and we were seated inside next to a beautiful wood burning stove. It was so cosy. The staff are really professional and the service is great. I had the Copenhagen bagel and it was superb! It’s usually not easy to find a good bagel in Joburg so I was pleasantly surprised.
I enjoy the outdoor dining the birds singing in the surrounding trees, it's fun to watch the yellow weaver birds grab sugar sticks from the tables and peck through to eat sugar then leave it for the smaller sparrows to finish as they can't break through with their becks.
A great spot for a quick bite. Set in a protected courtyard. You can sit indoors or in the open. Great service and great food. Surrounded by lots of interesting shops.
