Tatso Buffet - Time Square

Attended a 60th birthday party. After reading reviews before, I was not expecting a good experience But, wow, what a surprise. From starter to dessert, very good. Variety also good. Only one, not really a big problem, is waitress. But I did pick-up she might be quite new, as she was not very confident. She did make-up with friendliness.

The food was tasteless, hospital food vibes. Old dessert that has been sitting there uncovered for hours, cold food and limited options. What a waste of money.

Worse experience of this buffet, we made our booking for the 10th June 2023. The food served on that day had no variety of meats, we were only offered beef stew, chicken and cow heels. The desert looked nowhere near to what is on their website, we only had three choices. When we ask why, they told us it’s because that week is not busy.

No matter what, the menu shouldn’t be determined by how busy is that weekday or weekend. Instead the quantity can be reduced but serve the same foods you serve on your busiest weekdays or weekends

I took out my mother and grandmother from my grandmother's 70th birthday last week Saturday. I must say the food and the customer service was excellent.the chefs would converse with us from time to time. Highly recommend this place if you're looking to throw a birthday party for a friend or a family member or if you are just looking for a great time

Did not have a great experience at all. We received very poor service from the waitors and waitresses. We were basically ignored, tables not being cleared and very poor customer service. Besides the poor service, the food choices are mediocre and I personally would not recommend this place.

Very poor service! Very poor online booking system as you can book for any date but the buffet is only on weekends. Very poor manager service. Not recommended at all.

Got a confirmation for booking, even via a phone call, only to get there and be told that it is closed.

Staff in restaurant did not knowre special fot Buffet lunch advertised on the website until 31July. Then trolley with mop in very dirty water left right by door inside ladies restroom, having to actually squeeze past mop to get to toilets? ! How unprofessional?

The staff was extremely rude and rushed us throughout the entirety of our stay.the chefs on the other hand were extremely friendly and the food was delicious

My mom had her wedding lunch at Tatso.they had a great Aubergine bake & wish I could get the recipe! WOW! But they ran out of Custard on the Malva pudding: (. Also they only have 1 baby chair and it was being used.so we had to pass the baby around.hehe but it had a great atmosphere and the staff was very helpful.

Terrible experience. The air conditioning was not working, you have to pour your own wine, food is not tasty, found plastic in the food, fish was not available, I had to remove my own plate, waiter was not interested to offer us anything to drink other than our first order of cold drinks and wine. The variety was very basic, nothing special. This place will never see me again.

Poor service and the food is horrible you cant get a menu for drinks the waitresses say they know prices by head how do you know if they are not adding extras on your bill. The variety of the food is just bad i am never going back there i feel cheated and robbed.

We had a friendly waitress that served us by the name of Grace, The buffet was alraight, nothing spectacular

In my experience buffet restaurants in SA are generally a bit of a disappointment and for this reason we avoided Tatso. We did end up there for breakfast on new year's morning and this time we were pleasantly surprised.
The restaurant is big and nicely decorated and the chairs we had was very comfortable.
The staff were all very friendly but Elizabeth stood out constantly checking on us and offering everyone coffee.
The food, good selection for breakfast with most of the usual foods but options of waffles and some of the best chicken livers we've had for some time. Even the beef sausages were delicious with just the right amount of spice.
All in all a good experience with tasty food and friendly staff BUT it is expensive if you are not a hotel guest at a cost of R530 for 2 it's not an option if you are on a budget.

The only thing I enjoyed out of their buffet was their dessert. I think their food could use more seasoning and flavor. Asked for the opinion of the people I was with and they felt the same. Maybe we were there on a bad day? I don't know!

The ambiance was very warm and comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. The salad bar was awesome, however the main course needs to improve.
