Restaurant The Greenhouse reviews
41The hostesses are quite impolite, more engaged in phone conversations and group chats than in attending to customers. They lack the ability to welcome customers properly. The service is notably slow; our waiter disappeared for over 50 minutes just to take our food order. Despite the attractive ambiance, the service experience is subpar. Consider improving by hiring better staff.
Very nice set up, went on a whim so was not really sure what to expect arriving after 10pm, really nice vibe accompanied by a great spread of DJs
A friend was in country from Germany and we spotted this great place to catch up at. It was absolutely beautiful, I loved the green marble and being surrounded by real plants in an era where all of that has become plastic and fake.
My dumplings were okay, nothing to write home about, to be honest I expected better. My drink tasted diluted sadly as this looks like a spot mainly for drinks and chilling.
I had takeaway wings which were absolutely divine though, I must say. And my friend’s salmon looked amazing.
Overall a disappointingly average experience to say the least (for me) especially considering it’s located in one of the most upmarket spots in town.
The manager forgot to book our table and when we confronted him about it he got aggressive and told us it’s our fault, service was absolutely terrible don’t know how a manger like this can run this place
Initially came here as a secondary dinner option, and visited again the next day! Service was spectacular, vibes and decor were beautiful and menu options were all so delicious. My only wish is they have more Chenin Blanc options.
Aestically, the Greenhouse is wonderful. However, they lose one star as their cocktails definitely need improvement.
I visited on Thursday and must say that I fully enjoyed everything from the people to the music. The DJ was tops
Good vibes throughout. Recommended it to friends so we visited together on Friday. Still good vibes but a bit crowded. If you don't do well in large crowds like me, I am not sure about Fridays but it sure is thee place to check out. I could just easily be a regular if I lived there
I was so looking forward to trying out the Greenhouse. I made a reservation and on arrival we unknowingly entered through the wrong door. We entered by the bar.
While just standing there like lost sheep waiting for a waiter to seat us. There was a group of waiters close to the bar to the left of us chatting away and completely ignoring us. I eventually walked up to them to advise we made a booking and if they could help us. One of them then told us where the main entrance was.
The hostess who then received us was not very friendly she did assist us and parked us at a table with no menus and after sitting for about 10 minutes with no waiter coming to serve us, my friend and I got up to leave. No one asked where we were going or why we were leaving. The hostess just watched us walked out.
I have never in my life felt so unwelcome and received service this terrible at a place before. I can't even excuse the poor service to them being really busy and understaffed. There was what looked like a function or one big group seated and lots of waiters standing around idle but clearly not caring that we were sitting there waiting to be served. The rest of the restaurant was quiet.
We opted to drive down to the Cod Father instead and enjoy our Sunday afternoon there which was absolutely excellent.
Definitely not going to try give this place a second chance. Disgusting, unattentive and unwelcoming service!
The service is terrible. We got there and didn’t get any help. We sat down and the waiters ignored us until we left. All the waiters were in groups and chatting away.
I visited this place only one time. It was so nice
The service was nice Atmosphere Was good But prices was quite expensive
Nice vibe and ambience.the options for vegetarians are good.but I was there in the afternoon on a very stormy day and a cup of coffee or tea would have ended off the afternoon better however.no hot beverages are served here
Music is horribly loud. We could not even hold a conversation. I can’t imagine how the other restaurants around greenhouse are not losing customers! It was so loud!
No service, was totally ignored by socializing waiters and staff. Stood up and left after 20 minutes
Spent the evening for a birthday celebration, and it was great.
Great atmosphere and the best sushi I’ve had in a while.
Hidden gem in the heart of Sandton. Fantastic atmosphere.certainly worth visiting frequently. Great variety of music beginning as background music whilst patrons dined, building up during the evening, served by three DJ's on the night.last few hours most were up on the dancefloor boogying. Very professional, friendly staffing throughout. Can't comment on the food, as I was there for liquid refreshment.lol
Great venue, ambiance, music etc but the food was not so great. Ordered chicken and the sauce omg super salty. My friend had a burger, also not great so next time will come fed
Unreasonable bouncers. I had a collar shirt and chinos, but they didn't let me in because I was wearing all stars.
Meanwhile there were 16 year olds running around with shorts on?
Excellent all round, great vibe, the music was awesome, food was delish, decor is increadible. Can't wait to go sirens another Sunday arvy hanging out at The Greenhouse.
Not the first, definitely won't be the last. That's what Sandton is all about, the moment. So for this moment it's the place to be.
