The Harvard Cafe Midrand reviews
47We get food often from them and the quality is never the same. We got raw and rotten burger patties today. Food is very over priced for the quality that you get. Location is great, if only the food and service was good too.
Worst breakfast we ever ate (or didn't eat). Restaurant was empty and yet it took 40 minutes to bring 3 simple breakfasts that were stone cold, we had asked for soft eggs and they were hard. The fried eggs were so oily the plate had so much grease on it. The manager even said the chef is useless. 1 order and you get it that wrong? The only positive was that they didn't charge us for the breakfasts and the waiter was nice. They also don't have baby chairs so my little one had to sit on the table.
Great spot. Service is a little slow but very cool to sit and watch the planes while you enjoy a meal. Food is great too!
Food was ok - did not expect too much for the price which was reasonable. Service was excellent. Enjoyed watching the planes take off and land. Good experience overall.
Went for drinks and our waiter looked like he had a heavy night before. Everything my friend wanted they didn't have. At least we could watch the planes take off.
This used to be Harvard Cafe. It has changed some of its decor - love the 'mocha' color seats.
Great menu - just had a coffee, but will have to try some of their options.
Nice to look out onto the airstrip.
Ribs were decently prepared, they arrived quickly but extremely cold. They were warmed up but still not to satisfactory level. Beer was close to lukewarm. Friend who recommended was extremely disappointed.
Good food. Fairly priced. Waiters are super friendly but seem to be in need of some training. They have great daily specials and the beer is always cold.
I have visited Harvard Café many a times in the past (pre-covid) and always enjoyed it. However, I have never been so disgusted in going to a restaurant for a long time. The food was COLD, over cooked, tasteless, extremely pricy (I had prawn and rib combo) @ R199 you would expect top of the range food (I went to Dros the week before, had the same meal, tasty, well presented and nearly half the price). The poor waiter was run of his feet, serving 12 of us, with no one helping him. The wine they served definitely didn't come out of a bottle, when I quired this, I was not even given a satisfactory answer. At this stage I was so fed-up, I just wanted to leave. The manager on duty, was sitting in his little corner, not asking/enquiring from any of the tables, if he could be improving/assisting in anyway. DON'T BOTHER GOING TO THIS RESTAURANT, unless you like expensive, tasteless food. If it wasn't for the company, I would not even have eaten or paid for my meal
The have good customer service. A great place to bring kids if they like planes, helicopters. You can watch them take off and land
The service is INCREDIBLY slow, even during off-peak time. It seems like there is only one person in the kitchen and just a bunch of waiters
Took over a hour to get the food we ordered. Then when we got it, it was cold. Only one waiter for all the tables? Very slow service all round
The food was amazing but it takes a very long time for us to get served qhich is unfair mainly because the people who do come after us do get their food
Food is reasonably priced and tastes good. Lovely atmosphere for a nice chill session. Relaxed ambience and great service. Waiters are alert and give you space.
Food was mediocre. Someone on our table received spoiled prawns. The sushi was also not the freshest. Staff are clumsy and have no customer service ethics. Would not recommend.
We were a group of bikers visiting for breakfast. Service was slow and very little waiters available. Quite expensive as well. Sure it ok when you are a pilot and can afford.
Staff always very friendly and helpfull. We had a blast with the awesome vibe watching planes and helicopter take off.
It is such a wonderful and amazing restaurant alongside the grand central airport. It has a lot of different varieties of food. I love their fish & chips, cockpit pizza and orange juice. Very helpful staff very delicious food and Pizza most memorable is to sit and relax under the trees. Very natural sitting place and Aeroplane view from the Restaurant.
Food is really not good and over priced. A few pieces of meat with no flavour in a wrap with some jalapeños is most certainly not worth R95.
