Quaint old pub. Just a pity that they do not stipulate on website, for those that are not regulars, that they only serve the Sunday roast on a Sunday.

5th time in a few days. This pub is around the corner from my hotel and though it would be nice to go for a meal and few drinks as Im just visiting SA. Tonight would have been my second fight and thought it's not worth it, just leaving. Loads off zef people around. Might have been great as the reviews look good, but not if you need to defend yourself from the people going there. Sad for the owner, Im sure?

This is how a pub should be. Friendly staff, cold beer, wholesome pub grub, relaxed atmosphere.

Totally disagree. Shorty the barman was totally rude and should be removed from the establishment. Need owner to contact me urgently.

Friendly very English crowd. Could do with a coffee machine and more craft ales tho. Relaxed atmosphere.

I actually felt like I was in England sitting in here! Lovely vibe.friendly people sat all around me as we watched the soccer/football games in the pub! Proper pub food is available with all the best beers on tap xD! I will definitely be returning and if you are a fan of the pub life in the UK or want to experience a small part of it without leaving South Africa then look no further! Can't wait to go back.

Ye old style English pub with lots of Man U supporters.
They do an English carvery on Sundays with yorkshire pud and all.
Good choice of craft beer on tap.

I recommend the Old Rose to anyone who enjoys a good atmosphere, good company and good food. Ray and Sue have got it just right, had a special Christmas lunch they arranged for an office party and it was outstanding.

Great little Pub, with good food and friendly staff.
Locals will always make you feel at home.

This rating is based on what the Old Rose is IMO. There are lots of "authentic" English style pubs out there which are not really authentic, they just have a "English pub name", same applies to Irish pubs. The Old Rose really is a straight forward pub that serves well kept beer (I would say the Guinness is the best in Johannesburg) serves a simple food menu like bangers and mash and has a really good traditional pub atmosphere. The staff are also great. No frills, great pub vibe, inexpensive food and drink. It is what it is and it does it really well.

Homely English pub. Basic pub grub and sports tv. Very friendly and good prices too. It's my home from home.

Hello management i am really worries but yet answered to why is old rose not so busy as the only pub we have around. Your staff is very nasty and racist besides the old man one of your nasty guys said a very silly statement about my sister your regular customer who is the person who recommend me to go there to watch rugby match yesterday i couldn't even finish my beer

You can get draught Guinness.which is Irish, I guess. Food is basic but good value. Service is friendly. Sports channels on the tvs.
