Restaurant The Royale reviews
21We went there for drinks. The atmosphere was great. The patrons were friendly and so were the staff. Just a note, it does get quite packed so a reservation is advised. We couldn't get any seating but luckily some kind people let us join their table. Overall not a bad spot.
It was only my second time, but even from my first visit to this place has my heart. The layout, the friendly staff, the food, ever flowing beverages and the beautiful people that come to this have me want to visit time and time again. Julie & Ncumi recommend their grilled wings and what an excellent choice that was. I thoroughly enjoyed everything.
Thank you The Royale ️
I’ve only been for drinks and for a quiz, but this is a great venue for both those things. It has an vibrant ambience and very friendly staff.
This place reminds me of Kitcherns vibe, young crowd. Went on a Sunday and they were playing old school R&B which was the reason I stayed. If you are between the age of 21 to 32 this place could be tour vibe.
A good place to vibe, they serve proper food. The day I was here the music was very inconsistent so if you want to dance there you may be stopped in your tracks there.
Please note that there isn't a designated parking and you can only get side parking outside the place.
For hygiene freaks, note that the bathroom/toilet is unisex and there isn't a male/female designated one.
Staff should just try smiling more
Overall experience was good though.
24/7 Positive vibes. Restaurant at the top, "club" at the bottom. The atmosphere welcomes everyone, reasonably priced menu, average R150-R200 per person.
The bathrooms are a miss though. I'm not a fan of unisex bathrooms. But some may enjoy it
One of the best spots to have a chilled drink and great conversation. Varied music, decent space and the prices aren't anything too crazy. 100% recommend for a day/night out when you feel like a different vibe from the usual Amapiano and hookah you get from the North of JHB.
A young adult, multicultural bar with music for all. On the day they played everything from house, electro, hip-hop, pop, R&B, Amapiano, kwaito and a few other genres. Friendly staff member, with decent food and good service. I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for a down to earth place, something a bit different from the upper market service.
What a vibe. The food here is amazing and cocktails are too good. The services is 5 star for sure. Took my fiancé
for his birthday and all my requirements were met. Definitely one of my favourite places to eat out.
Great venue and great vibe. Make sure you book a table as they do not have enough seating for the number of patrons who visit. Always get there early too, bar gets slower as the night progresses (it can be frustrating).
Absolutely delicious food, amazing customer service. Always a first choice for a good night out!
Nice to go to Royale after an absence of 2 years. Still nice vibe, good food and prompt service. Will try make it a regular visit as we did prior to COVID. Go there, you'll enjoy yourself.
Great spot for socializing and meeting cool people. Will not recommend to people who want to party hard. Beautiful aesthetics.
Not a bad place but there was a long wait for food and drinks. The music was also too loud making it difficult to have a conversation.
I'd always heard of people talk about this "Royale" & I've never been till Thursday night (3rd March) with some friends. The place was hosting an event called STRICTLY SOUL by DJ Akio. It was dope! The place is lovely, the deco is cute, but it was obvious buzzing & with reason. I honestly had the best time at that event. The music was old school RnB & Pop which is very very refreshing in the kind of music era we're living in. People were so happy & having lots of fun singing along - I for one was SWEATING & screaming out all the lyrics I knew. There's a second bar around the back of the venue decorated in Flying Fish's colours etc. The only critique I'd give the venue is for them to have more barmen there. There was only one guy serving us at that bar & it was quite boring to wait so long to get served. The sound in that room is also incredibly frustrating, the speaker is muffled & you can barely hear what's playing. I had to go to the main dance floor to enjoy the music & that sucks cause my friends were chilling in that specific room. Either than that, I wouldn't fault the place. Management, please fix that speaker? You absolutely cannot have such terrible sound playing in a venue - rather have silence instead I definitely give Akio & STRICTLY SOUL a solid 10/10 for good, non-pretentious vibes. Everyone one needs to attend a STRICTLY SOUL, you would love it. Especially if you were born in the 90's like me
So here is the thing, they made us stand on the queue for 30min, apparently, one could only go in after someone left the establishment. Covid protocol they said. We get in finally, and what do we find? Zero physical distancing. A super spreader for Covid.
Went there for a work meeting but left after 15min as they were not ready to open (despite being open for 30min already). Staff were still cleaning around us and moving tables and equipment.
Awesome afterwork hangout spot with an amazing ambience and a vibrant crowd. Place also look pretty cool with nice music and dope events. The Royale? Any day please!
Such a great vibe, with interesting decor and music.
As a vegetarian, the pulled mushroom burger is one of the best veggie burgers I've had. Amazing flavours and all REAL food.
Great vibe and decor. Not an extensive menu but definitely items I want to go back and try. The mussel sauce was amazing and I could have drunk it up. The bread was delicious as was the side of potatoes. The beef was tasty and homey. Very nice drinks selection.
