Throbbing Strawberry

The evening that I went for dinner here I had excellent service. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive. Great neighborhood atmosphere. I ordered the Mayor Hamburger and it was one of the best burgers I've had, *ever*!

A year later, it has gone down even more. They now allow smoking in the bar area. They have 2 TV channels that used to have sport on… now one of them has YouTube music playing & the other has some sports on - pity if there are 2 groups wanting to watch different things.
Sad place…

Last time: Offhandedly dealt with at the door…
Ordered a Pesto pasta - R138 for what was a very bland starter portion. This is R10 worth of pasta, olive oil, basil & a few whole pine nuts thrown in for effect. So small, that I ended up having to order a pizza. I’d suggest going with the pizza in future. It was good and far better value for money. The venue is nice - but management needs to get off their high horse & come down to earth.
Not impressed.

Relaxed atmosphere. Friendly service. Ordered chicken wings and chips. Wings were tender and succulent. The waiter was polite and efficient. Will definitely visit again

Consistently fabulous food in a gorgeous environment. I'd highly recommend their pastas and pizzas. A little pricey, but worth the treat every now and then.

My son, Richard & I go to Throbbing Strawberry for lunch quite frequently. Salmon Poke Bowls are our favourite

First time ever for us. It was amazing. The food were delicious, the atmosphere amazing. Music from a live guy in the background.and our gentleman that waited us, were a real gentleman, patient.knew the menu by heart.and he can be recommended any time if the day.

Not sure if Throbbing is under new management but we visited this local favourite over the weekend only to be highly disappointed at the menu changes and food quality depreciation. The Fillet Borderlaise (which my partner orders often) was nothing but steak placed next to bland veggies and gravy, nothing of what it used to be. Not even going to bother mentioning the other meals. Very sad to see such a wonderful establishment deteriorate. As we frequent often I sincerely hope they do something about it.

Nobody was at the entrance to show us to our reserved table. Finally shown to our table. After 10 minutes, I went and asked who our waitress was. Finally get a designated waitress. Given 1 menu to share as you are short of menus. Had to ask for the cocktail menu. Waitress was totally incompetent. Not trained at all. Service slow. Food average. Won't be back. Quite honestly I don't think management care. But they should in this economy.

We don't often go to the throbbing strawberry, but will definitely be going more often. Service was outstanding and the food even more so.

First time eating at the Throbbing Strawberry, and they did not disappoint. The staff were warm and welcoming. Lucille, our waitress was very professional and kindly offered to hold our 5 month old baby while we ate. She is a huge asset to your restaurant and deserves all the credit for making it such an unforgettable experience. Do try the coffee milkshake!

Amazing place for a quick catch-up with friends. Pizza was very tasty, beer from the tap was faaaaaboulus.will be back

We had our Christmas Lunch there, great vibe and good food. Large doors and cosy outdoor area wraps itself around the venue area, Perfect for those who want natural light and fresh air.

Was brilliant the first time, great food, even better service. However second and third time, service was progressively worse. Not enough waiters, beer ran dry, food took forever, it was nice, not great, portions also got smaller and more pricey, and don't quite seem worth it anymore.

We went for some Sushi and drinks on the patio. The place is set up great! Muzi our waiter was on the ball! Will definitely visit again.

I absolutely loved the signature cocktails and the food was so delicious. We sat by the window over-looking the street below us. The perfect place to hang-out with friends or your partner, and it even has a pub/sports bar-like section for sports lovers. It also has a private, quiet section which looks perfect for hosting a small get-together with close family and friends.
I will definitely be a regular here.

Sitting on the deck next to the water fountain is fantastic. Lovely ambience and service is great too. Pizzas are excellent

Food and service were excellent. Food was fresh, tasty, hot and served together. We were a large table too. Our server was attentive without being intrusive. Only reason I'm not awarding full rating is ambience could have been lifted with some background music. It's a vibey place.

Terrible incident / mugging as leaving at the entrance reception to the restaurant. No security in place.
Manager not equipped to deal with these situations. Apparently happens frequently according to staff and patrons.
Going to a restaurant is all about an experience so this incident just over shadowed the good food and great evening at my friends birthday
