Deductible paid not refundable even though service was not rendered.

I'm sharing my experience to avoid this from happening to anyone else. My 9 year old son was scheduled for a procedure at (visiclin day clinic) in three rivers for the 29/03/2022. We received authorization
from the medical aid and was informed that there will be a R1300 deductible that needs to be paid on the day of admission for this procedure. On the morning of admission at 8 am we were there and I paid the deductible with my card, we went thru to the day
ward and roughly 8: 10 am the anesthesiologists came thru to take my sons vitals for the procedure to commence. The doctor informed me that he is not happy with my sons vitals and that he suspects my son to have a heart condition, he then did a 5 min Electrocardiogram
and gave me the printout to take my son to a cardiologist and the procedure was cancelled. On my way out I spoke to the sister and asked what about the deductible that I have just paid without my son receiving his procedure? She asked me if I paid the deductible
cash or with card I said with my card, she then said I must please send my banking detail in order for them to refund me my deductible because of the cancellation, which I did just to be informed by another lady in accounts that there will not be a refund
because the anesthesiologists used their Electrocardiogram machine for 5min and my son used the bed for roughly 15min. I tried to explain to her that how is it possible to pay for a service that was not rendered and she just replied that is what it is (Basically!)
I would have completely understood if they told me that they will deduct something for the EKG and the bed for 10min and refunded me the rest but no they keeping the full R1300. People please be informed when dealing with these people. Regards, Hannes
