Wakey Wakey Coffee / La Strada Cafe - Italian Street Food

When we arrived asked how long pizza will be. Told it will be 12 to 15 min.
They failed to inform us that our pizza was ruined, just asked for more time. An hour later we were informed that we wont get our pizza and we need to change our order to pasta. Which wasnt worth the wait of more than an hour. The manager did not even make eye contact or did anything in the situation.
Really disappointed in La Strada

I got poor service from this place. The waitress gave me so much attitude. And ofcourse the eggs benedict was not well done

Service is good to order but extra service is lakking!
The manager is really service orientated!
Please train the staff out of clients hearing!
I came to relax and I enjoyed my breakfast which was done just as I ordered and delicious!
I don't want to listen to new staff being trained though!

This review is from my own experience and this is why we have these reviews.

To be honest and express what you experienced.

1 - for the atmosphere.the decor and finishes.even though dead no back ground music playing.

2nd - For a very interesting menu.that does cater for all. BUT said that for the area and a pavement restaurant waiting for a car to drive through at any given time, you are extremely over priced.

Not sure why?

For you not based in Sandton.so you don't have those rentals to pay.

So a tad bit confused why so expensive?
You based in Edenvale.
Who are you catering for.and yet you call yourself "street food"

There are soo many better restaurants that actually offer street food Tappas at fraction of your price bases in Sandton
. Linden and Meville.

Dear Owner thank you for your response, I am fully aware how food costs work and costing of same, I am a Cost accountant and have myself been working in F&B industry for MANY years even having own restaurants.

But said that, If you go to Paul in Sandton among many other restaurants you don't even pay your excessive prices.

Area based again, people don't always want generous amount of food on plate either.now you missing the point!

Wine prices.all patrons know cost of wine ciders and hard liquor.yours is not any better.

That was the point here!

I must say, wasn't impressed. Very expensive for what you get. Taste was very average. Maybe just an off day.

We had a tomato and mozzarella starter. Very sweet although good quality.
Pizza was just as sweet.
Meatballs and spaghetti was perfect.
Good quality food but also pricey. Traffic was noisy and spoilt the atmosphere.

Ordered puttenesca pasta, they delivered what looked like seafood pasta. I called the cafe, only to be told by the manager/ person in charge that he just works part time there and cannot rectify the problem.
So disappointed.

Appreciated the fact that the owner phoned me directly to apologise.

Great stop for a cup of coffee. They serve their own in-house blend. The menu has a decent selection of meals, though the prices are higher than similar places on some items.

Update: having a Creamsoda Float here and though they serve a decent size glass it feels like they are skimping on the ice cream. I'll leave the rating at 3️

Good coffee and waffles. Just be warned, if you order a “stacked” waffle you aren’t getting more than one waffle, but a single waffle that’s been cut in half and stacked. Quite sneaky.

Waffles were good. Service was good. The surroundings look very grubby. He extended the place and it appears to have been done on the cheap. It was extremely hot inside and there are no windows to open. Hopefully he sees this post and takes notice to spruce things up.

Best pizza I have tasted for a long time. Prices might look a bit high but the ingredients are all imported from Italy. Well worth paying a bit more, would highly recommend.

Friendly staff, pizza was slightly undercooked on top but was delicious none the less. Windhoek draught on tab earns it an extra star.

Had a good coffee and a chat at Wakey Wakey today. Good place for a meeting over a cup of coffee

Eerste keer daar gewees.kos was goed.rustige atmosfeer, kelners pla mens nie, is bietjie bekommerd dat daar nie genoeg parkering is nie.

The waffles are normally incredibly - in the 10 plus years I gave been going there, today was the first time it wasn't great.
Staff were attentive, friendly and took great care of us.
Parking can be a little problematic, but only when the schools close in the afternoons or on Sundays due to church

Enjoy the breakfasts, the waffles are really the best I have had and the Coffee is good, always had a good service experience

Went to this little gem in Edenvale for a friend's birthday dinner last night and was very pleasantly surprised. We order pizza often from various places around Edenvale and this one is definitely in the top 3 best pizza places arounnd here. They also do pasta, which is proper italian and the burgers looked exceptional too. I can't wait to try the Belgian waffles which also look scrumptious. The prices are very reasonable, the service was great and the atmosphere was very warm and relaxed. Will definitely be supporting them in very regular basis. A new favourite for us I'm sure.

Lovely little street side Cafe in the heart of Edenvale.
Edenvale has so much to offer and this restaurant is one of them!

The outside area is literally situated on the curb but it doesn't feel like that.
You're safely enclosed but can still enjoy your meal and company in peace.

Food was fresh and tasty.

Our waitress was helpful but would suggest helping her get a bit more on the friendly side.
We used the Entertainer app, she was a bit aggressive about not taking away any food.all good though but not everyone will take kindly to the way in which this rule is applied or rather explained.

Will be back!

I really enjoyed that they are smaller, not as busy as the larger restaurants. You are able to have a conversation with your guests. I had the breakfast and my partner had a waffle. Food and service really good, will definitely go back.
