atasca Portuguese Restaurant - Durban North reviews
39 I've just moved to Durban North, my partner and I are keen foodies, so we set out to find a good Portuguese restaurant and Atasca rated excellent. We went there on a Saturday night at 6pm, in total 6 ppl, I ordered the prawn special, now here's were it went down hill, no manger in sight, we were served 2 bread rolls, not Portuguese rolls and a small container with margarine. My prawns arrived smothered in a not so mild peri-peri suase which I gathered was the same as the contents of the bottle on our table, just warmed up, I wasn't given any other option I.e lemon or garlic butter.it was Unfortunately a very average meal.
Thanks
Ronell
I was waiting for my lunch "date" when I discovered A Tasca. I was staring at their lunch special without really seeing it, when the manager approached me. I made an impulsive decision and changed our lunch venue. We both enjoyed the food so much, that I totally forgot to take photos. Luckily I remembered when I saw the creme brulee's presentation. A very lovely place and the food is great! Try their lunch special, it value for money.
The starter calamari was horrible. Over cooked and over salty. The mains at best were average. The strawberry daiquiri that was ordered came to our table in a purple colour.
Store visited on Sunday 8th July, Very disappointed in food quality, service and the (no) selection of diet cold drinks, along with a 200ml being served and charged at a 300ml rate. My family and I felt unwelcomed, accompanied by cold food, all to the value of R900.00.and we were one of the 2 x tables (6 people in total) with customers. I will not return to the store.
Paid 235 for for a takeout of 8 pieces of calamari with more rice and chips than anything else. Their menu on Mr D is misleading if they intend on giving their customers stater portions at the price of a main they must clearly state the portion sizes.
There were only 3 tablea occupied in the restaurant. The one was a large table with screaming kids and parents were not controlling their children which definitely had a huge impact on our table of 8. We were celebrating a 22 birthday. The food was nothing to get excited about. The fillet medallions were tough and very thin. It was smothered with mushroom sauce whixh was tasty. The meal was accompanied by a very nice fresh salad. The service was abysmal. The waitron kept forgetting what it was that we ordered. She forgot to bring one guest her starter so guest had to eat the starter alone whilst everyone had finished. The main course was not tasty. The Dom Pedro was average and which I also had to remind the waitron to bring me. The cream brulee was very runny as it hadn't set. Coffee was OK.
Great little place in Kensington square. Good food and I love the lunch time specials. The kitchen is open until 16.00 for lunch
Set in the heart of Durban North.
A friendly, warm welcome awaits.
Delicious food.
Great ambience friendly service great food, value for money.live music for a chilled New Years afternoon.
A very pleasant Sunday lunch. A fairly large selection of meals to choose from. Staff are well trained.
Not a good evening overall.
Service shocking.
Had to ask for knives.
Ask to top up our wine.
"Mild" chicken livers were too hot.
Chips were soft and soggy.
Very disappointed
Love the new decor. Used to go there years ago. I don't know if there is a new owner. Well done with the new look. Love it. And food absolutely Devine. All three of us enjoyed our food. Very good idea with the Sunday menu. Friendly staff. Good vibes. You definitely see me again.
Divine meal, had the fish special for the day and it was delicious. Have had the half chicken special before and it was awesome.can take own wine and pay R40 corkage. Good friendly service, compliments to man management.
After all the hype surrounding this establishment, we were left disappointed. Only good thing was the attentiveness of the staff. But the food was very disappointing.
Most enjoyable lunch, delicious half chicken with side of mash followed by the best creme brulee ever. Great service too.
The only thing good about this place was the waitress behavior to customers
My dinner didn't even look appetizing and tasted awful
Their service is lacking. I ordered the 'Chicken Pasta' and it was fantastic but other people I was with ordered the Half Chicken and they complained about it being dry.
While the service level is great and professional, there is unfortunately very little Portuguese available from the menu, no bacalhau (the most typical of all Portuguese), no Portuguese wines (the typical Vino Verde), so we didn't even dare to ask for Chorizo. Sad compared to the past.
Went there yesterday waited almost an hour for the food and did a take away came home to find out that so much was missing from my dish very disappointed
