Most delicious prawns ever. Good service and lovely atmosphere. However, toilets are in a filthy state. Do not use.

Beira Alta is authentic Portuguese and South African fusion meals.
The chicken and prawn sauce is a home made recipe which leaves the pallet wanting more and more.
The steaks are perfectly cooked. Soft and juicy can be cut like a hot knife through butter.

The secret peri peri sauce and the great service at this restaurant make me give it a rating for 5.

If u looking for a absolutely amazing time I suggest u come over to Beira Alta.
Starlene the General Manager is a absolute star. She and her team always go the extra mile to make every occasion a special one.

The best mama's pan fried prawns in an amazing sauce. If u stay further away from ballito, best u make a trip as it is well worth the drive.

Waited for food for almost 2 hours after ordering. Food was not prepared as specified. It was a disaster. Manager said medium lamb chops took longer to cook. Nonsense! Food arrived burnt. Give this place a miss.

The starters were excellent and my Boyfriend loved his mains. I wouldn't recommend the prego roll mains. Very small hot dog size prego they give you 2. I'd prefer to have a authentic prego bun with steak and garnish, cheese and fried egg. The sauce was very bland. Nandos make a really good one. The Dom Pedro's are absolutely delicious.

Loved the livers and all other dishes except the mushroom pasta. The pasta tasted as if it was not seasoned when being cooked. White wine over powered the mushroom and was not seasoned at all not even garlic which is the star of any any pasta dish. On the up side staff were super friendly and helpful

My favorite restaurant in Ballito. Previous chef now back for about 2 months. Food was today and usually id excellent. Best value for money in Ballitos top 5 restaurants.

From joburg always went to the one in monte casino went to biera alta a few nights ago in the lifestyle centre the food was absolutely awesome hats off to the chef, haven't tasted this quality of food since the start of biera at monte

Generous portions of well priced food, cooked to perfection. Waiters and management are very friendly and facilities were impeccably clean. Ourselves waiter Richard was an absolute machine, but super helpful. The restaurant has an awesome vibe which culminates in a relaxed family ambience. The chicken and prawn combo is the specialty and its well worth it

Lovely evening with superb pawns, calamari and chicken dishes. However the espetada was not great. The meat was laced with sinew and unpleasant to eat. Management graciously offered a replacement meal and would discuss with the meat supplier. The ice-cream and Belgian chocolate sauce did much to sweeten the experience. Thank you.

Food and service superb. Quality of food and service far outweigh the slightly high prices. You pay for quality and their attention to detail.

Fresh rolls, butter and sauce was the highlight of our meal. The rest of our food wasnt traditional portuguese food but i suppose different works for some. I say again the sauces were very nice the boys enjoyed the chicken strips with the sauce.

Went there on 16 April 2021 with family, for a dinner reservation.

We got seated at a table at the back and then forgotten about.
After about 15minutes I got up and searched for the maitre D to arrange a waiter for us.

After he gave us the menus, he disappeared.
Again I had to leave the table and look for him.
The maitre D tracked down our waiter to come take our order.

The drinks came and then the meals came one by one. So we had to all sit there and keep talking until everyones meal arrived, so we could all start eating together. This took almost 20 minutes.

I ordered a steak and requested medium. It arrived medium rare. And it was slathered in a horrible sweet tasting sauce.
Who puts a sweet sauce on a steak? It tasted like pumpkin, which was not even mentioned on the menu and felt like my order had been messed up.

After our meals were delivered, the waiter seemed to have left the country. A third time I had to try and find him as we required further service.
I found him at the register with another waiter. They were eating leftover cake from somebody's meal.
Perhaps I'm mistaken but aren't waiters not supposed to be eating whilst on active duty with tables they have to attend?

Then when I wanted to settle the bill, he just dropped off the bill and disappeared. Did not ask me how I would be making payment. After about 15 minutes of waiting, I left the table a fourth time and eventually asked another waiter to assist me with settling.

Over the years I'd heard many accounts of how great Beira Alta was. Emphasis on "was".
If it was ever good, it's now a shadow of its former self.
Terrible experience, mediocre food, incompetent staff.

Food and service great but they allowed a single male customer to sit near us and smoke, asked the waiter and he said it was non-smoking, but they let this guy carry on smoking, eventually us and another table moved. Not acceptable!

Decent food but decor could use a revamp and a freshened menu. Hopefully post Covid they can work on that when the feet come back.

This restaurant is a must. The full chicken comes in a tasty sauce and good price as well. The Salads are very good and the prawn dishes are very tasty. Great friendly staff.

Great food and great service. Their seafood was absolutely delicious, everything cooked to perfection! The chocolate brownie dessert is soft and gooey and by far the best dessert I've had in a while. The wait staff is warm and welcoming and even though the restaurant was busy, our food arrived quickly. This restaurant is a must when visiting Ballito!
