Delicious, good quality food. The area is a bit dodgy but once you're in their parking it's quite secure. Waitresses always have a smile and the food is fresh. Will definitely go back to try more of their items

Good service, nice atmosphere, decent food. Food was slow to arrive but we were informed and you can see the staff is doing everything they can.

Not great experience, ate there 2 July 2022, detail on the web and what is currently available does not align. No cheesecake or any cake for that matter.
Friendly service but not enough to make up for the wrong food order, processed cheese on the burgers and no cheesecake.
Might be under new management but signage still the same, still doing service under freedom Café and they are very much open for service.

Love the vibe and feel of the place. Food wasn't as tasty as I'd have liked. The palate is very muted with not much strong flavours. I tried their hot sauce, made in-house, and for a hot sauce there really wasn't much in terms of spiciness.

Great atmosphere, music and staff. Enjoyed the pasta I had and the drinks special (buy one get one free from 4-6, not sure if it's only for Friday)

Lovely venue, in a not such a great location. The service was really good, food was actually quite nice, despite looking a little bit dissapointing. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

Wow, wow and wow. 5 star service, food and drinks. A hidden gem in Durban. Well worth going to and will for certain be going there again!

Beautiful setting but we waited 45 mins for our food. When it finally came it was great but the wait was a little crazy for 2 chicken wraps. Hopefully better next time

This place has amazing food, I recommend you trying their Jam bacon burger as for the service, everyone is helpful and kind. It's a place you can go to and want to come the next day!

The service is good, the food is out of this world and the tranquil setting is very peaceful. Also very private establishment. Cocktail menu is available and clean toilets. Conference facilities are available as well as rooms at the adjacent Concierge Hotel.

Got to the place only to be completely ignored by the entire staff. It looked more racially motivated.

TL;DR - Not going back.
I have been wanting to eat at Freedom Cafe for sometime now and I must say that it was very disappointing. They did not have avocado, mushroom and orange juice available - that cuts out a lot of breakfast options. The waiter then suggested a fruit blend juice which tasted like syrup diluted in water (we wanted fresh juice; as it appeared on the menu). We also ordered an iced coffee which was pathetic. After sitting outside for a while we asked to move indoors as the seats were dirty and it was a windy day. It was a blistering, humid day of 34 degrees and the air-con was not working. At this point we were concerned about the quality of the food. Luckily the food was decent. This along with the service provided by the waiter has resulted in a 2-star rating. If not for these two things I would not have given any (if that was possible).

This was not an easy review to write. A whole of factors could have contributed to my experience. My experience. Came here after reading reviews and on a recommendation as well. The location is excellent, lots of opportunity here. Was told it was better to sit outside in high Summer in Durban as the aircon was not working. WiFi not available. Was before 12, so ordered a breakfast. What had been recommended to me to have from their menu was not available. Now the food. There were l traces of excess oil. It made the mushrooms look too oily. The poor eggs when they arrived were cremated, and the macon was hard. Both inedible. The food tasted stale. The only thing I enjoyed was the toast. The waiter disappeared before I could even ask for sweetner for my cappucchino - and never returned until I was readying to leave. Fix this. Please.

Customers should take note that the website states the following "Please note that The Freedom Café and The Chocolate & Cheesecake Bar are fully halaal and no longer serves or permits alcohol or pork on the premises". This is far from true as I personally visited the store on 19 January 2020 & I had seen the entire bar full of alcohol, upon enquiry the waiter informed me that they are 'halaal', ie 'Halaal Friendly'. Needless to say, I cannot review the food as I had left.

Such an amazing quaint coffee shop that serves THEE best blueberry cheesecake. Their meals are very filling, their tramazini's are very tasty as well as their bunnychows. My favourite brunch spot and coffee shop.

Iman adore this place due to factor in naturality, surrounding the gathering tables plus I'm able to sleep here as well

The worst thing that can happen is when your expectations are not met! Especially when it comes to food and dining. I've had Freedom Cafe on my radar for so long and when I finally went two weeks ago, I was just a little disappointed. Being a creative and art lover, the space created was an unusual and yet pleasant vibe with all its colorful decor and interesting art pieces. The place was pretty cool, the food was okay and the service average. Had to change our order a few times because what we wanted from the menu was unavailable. Also just to mention that the place needs a bit of an upgrade. Maybe that is me just knit-picking again but these are the things that I look for. When you're spending a bit for your buck, the ultimate food and dining experience must be worth it.

Used to be my favourite. Kind of lost me in the past few years. Hoping the new owners will bring it to its former glory or better yet, take it to jew heights

I was in Durban on Vacation, we made a turn to Freedom Cafe for breakfast, we ended up sitting there the whole day, iv never set at a restaurant for more than 8 hours.we had to cancel all our plans scheduled for that day, we were so comfortable, it's such a private and beautiful space.the deco inside and out, modern yet vintage style. I LOVE IT! The hospitality, the respect from the staff, it's out of this world.uMadlamini served us from morning until evening never got tired of our demands, with her beautiful personality and smile. I will highly recommend this place to everyone I know that would be visiting Durban. Thank you so much for making my day such a beautiful experience. I was there on the 3 Nov 20019.
