News Cafe Umhlanga Ridge

Unfortunately not a great experience. We were in a big group and did not book. So agreed I should expect to wait for food.
But service was super slow. Waitress did her best but 15 need 2 waitresses, music was so loud we had to shout at each other. It was about 1pm in the afternoon. Food was mediocre at best. Sorry but it was just not great.

Firstly, we had to call a waiter after 20 minutes of waiting to be attended. Kwanele the waiter we called, had an attitude. She came 5 minutes later after we called her, no greeting just placed the menus on the table and left. She then forced us to pay for our bill and we did but told her that we would like to continue ordering. We paid and she get threw our slip and left. We sat waiting to be attended and she never came back. We didn’t have a choice but to leave.

Very poor service. Yesterday we had a waitress demand a higher tip. After having not even cleaned out table once or asked us if we needed anything. Definitely would not recommend.

I’ve never experienced such a poor pathetic service, everything from the cold food to the waitresses and the noise… I’m never setting foot there ever again sorry. They serve us cold food, you ask them to warm it up, they take another hour to bring it back… I’m so angry

Poor service. Cold food, sent to reheat came back the same. Waitresses look as of they in another zone.

The service is bad. Even this one star is out of generosity because they don't deserve any star. When we arrived, we expected to be welcomed by a waiter/waitress to assist us and yet all the waitresses just looked at us and carried on doing whatever they were doing. Nobody came to us and we stood there just waiting for atleast 10 mins without any assistance. Very disappointing.

Good cocktails, and their food is pretty good as well. Go there often because they also do hubblys and the fam loves hubblys. However I don't recommend if you are not looking for a loud and lit vibe. Can get really loud, even during the day, a great place to drink and be merry though.

A useless manager whose self-importance means more than actuality being a manager, will create the issues this place has.
I love loud pumping dance music in a Club! This is a Café! But the music is played so loud, because the manager likes it that way, that u must scream to be heard.
The food I ordered arrived after 25mim and was cold, tough and pretty tasteless! Of course the manager never once came to ask me how things were.
So, the manager can run this place like it's his toy club to party in, but clients like me will never return!

Friendly and professional service and an inviting atmosphere with a great night time vibe.

The upstairs area is well suited where greater privacy is desired and has been a good venue to host our business networking events with the management being very accommodating of our needs.

We will be back for sure!

What lets this place down is the staff. Hard to find, slow to respond. Would clear the table before food or drinks finished

I had a phenomenal experience, thanks to Zama who was serving us, and the ambience was awesome. I would definitely be coming there often and would be referring my friends to you️️️

The worst Newscafe I've been to, pity because location is great. Manager was arrogant and staff seemed uninterested.

Nothing to write home about, its chilled, its news cafe they are all the same. Not famous for their food that's for sure but an option for drinks with friends

This place is absolutely terrible I don’t know if the staff acts this ways to deter other races and attract ONLY BLACK people but we were a crowd of 10 people who got no service whatsoever, our waiter (Fikile) walked passed us and actually ignored us, the one time she actually took our order she messed it up and the card machines is problematic got my credit card blocked when I used the same card at Cuba lounge before I went to newscafe. I don’t recommend this place to my worse enemy!

Very nice and chilled, music could do with a little more electric but otherwise it is a beautiful place, great for having intimate get togethers!

Really enjoyed my meal and service at News Cafe Gateway. Good vibe and very clean. Even got a free ice tropez drink when we were leaving. Would recommend it!

Vibrant and trendy spots in Umhlanga. Can get crowed on a Friday and Saturday. Don't allow reservations. Pricy drinks and food items.
