Seabelle Restaurant reviews
39Wonderful seafood curries. The mutton and beans was not to my liking as the meat wasn't too tender. Otherwise great experience. Celebrated my birthday here with my family. Waiter was attentive and hospitable. Unfortunately we had loadshedding while we were there, but they were prepared.
Don't be put off by the sight of the building. The curry here is amazing! Try the popadoms as well. Lovely sea view while you eat
My favourite spot for absolutely flavourful Durban curry, it is just thee best, tried the seafood curry this time and I was not disappointed.
Went for the famous prawn curry but it was so bad. No flavour, canned tomatoes that were not cooked through. The mixed veg was even worse. Very disappointed as compared to what this place used to be. Will never go back.
Awesome venue and food.very accommodating hosts.we had our reunion on saturday night and even with power failure had a blast and ended at around 1am.thanks guys
Still a classic. Don’t go for the decor or ambiance, go for the food - unbelievable quality and deep complex flavors.
Had fish and crab curry.its OK Not bad at all. Not for you if you looking for explosion of taste in your mouth.there is nothing too special about it. It's just the sea food with too much sour tomato chutney in the name of curry.
Food was average. For the price charged the prawns bunny and mutton /lamb bunny was disappointing. Drinks average price. Experience average. Rather try TSD or Britania Hotel. Better quality food and experience for the price.
Everyone I know has been to seabell restaurant, famous for their hot spicy prawn curry, ample parking, tables with s seaview, also have outdoor seating, no booking in advance just pop in they have ample space, very wide range menu offered, must try is their mutton bunny
Proper, amazing curry.with a sea view! What more could one ask for. I've been here 3 times in as many months and each time is better than the last. The waiters are friendly and chatty which makes the experience so much nicer. Bunny Chow is a must here. These guys get it right!
I was very disappointed with the prawn curry, which is said to be"Seabelles famous word renowned prawn curry. Exquisitely divine" as per their menu. It was a plate of boiled prawns in a can of tomato puree with no flavour at all. Their standards have deteriorated over the years.
Seabelle? More like “last resort”… we were looking for a near by restaurant to eat at and came across Sea belle, the food was not up to standard or appetising. They had a very small selection of dishes and even those were not tasteful, lacking salt and flavour. When we ordered the deep fried calamari with lemon butter sauce which was more like crumbed calamari rings doused in margarine. Let’s not get started on the pricing, summed up in one word “overpriced”.
Waiters were very helpful. I had the fish and chips l was pleasantly surprised. It was delicious. Unfortunately the decor was old fashioned and outdated.
The Seabelle lived up to all my fond memories. The food was really good, the service excellent and the prices very reasonable. Fabulous all round!
The most important aspect of any restaurant/takeaway or food stall is consistency. If you had a meal 3 years ago and your taste buds crave another, Seabelle won't disappoint you. Via there for Lekka Chow Now
Awesome seafood. Best hake and prawns in north of Durban. Sea platter highly recommend. Gr8 value for money
This spot used to be a favourite not too long ago but it has deteriorated dismally. Prices have shot up and the food has become really mediocre. There were two waiters for Sunday lunch and perhaps it because they were the only two there was really no effort made for customer satisfaction. Zilch! Anyone who is a curry lover knows that for many of us tea is a chaser. Yet seabelle refuses to concede to this simple request. They have cake but no hot drinks. Is Seabelle relying on its seaview for custom? It doesn't take much to serve beautiful meals in a beautiful way. I don't think I will make the excursion out to seabelle again in the near future and that's a pity.
We went there for dinner on a Thursday evening, because it had been recommended by a friend as having very good curries and we were not disappointed. My wife had mutton curry and I had a prawn curry and both were delicious.
The food is five star, but the place is not plushly decorated, so when you walk in for the first time it's a bit of a let-down - don't decide to go somewhere else because you will be missing out on a great meal!
Why do we have to wait over 45 minutes to get a prawn curry. Amish where u can get within 15 minutes. Its all about u buying alcohol whilst u wait deliberately. A sham. Beware
Used to be my favourite place, though havent been in about 2 years.not the same, portions are small and gone expensive.the lamb curry had no flavour.the fish curry was not bad.overall dont expect the same seabelle as you knew it a few years ago.a bit disappointing.whenever i come visit from jhb i will have to find a replacement
