The Little India Restaurant reviews
40 Finally visited this gem of a restaurant
Food was amazing. Staff are friendly and service is absolutely perfect.
Good Indian cuisine, shocker that a bottled water had just been left on the table which I thought was free but not.
The service is beyond pathetic to say the very least, I had to wait approximately 25 mins just for my order to be taken. Another 30mins just for them to bring a jug of water. I've been here for a total of 2hrs and 19mins and still have not received my order. None of the staff or managers had come to explain the situation or apologise for the delay.
We come from the Midlands and this is the only Indian Restaurant we visit when we come to Durbs. They have been consistently excellent for over the last decade that I've been a customer.
Good place to have some Indian food in Durban, not traditional streetfood- more home cooked styles of cooking.
If you want authentic Indian food, then this is the place. The owners are lovely people and have been running the restaurant for many years. They have a good selection of Indian food from South to the North of India and some fusion. They even have things such as Manchurian, dosa and chola Bhatura. As a vegetarian they have a particularly large selection. Having lived in India, I wanted to try something very simple which was the puri and aloo which I can say was one of the best that I have had in India.
The staff are well trained and attentive and one waiter said he had been there for 12 years, which says a lot. When I arrived they had just finished a havan (fire ceremony) inside the restaurant so it was a beautiful Indian experience all round.
Thank you for this wonderful restaurant which truly is a little India!
Today was my first experience at Little India. Ordered a Lamb bunny (hot) for delivery. Visible onion and tomato in curry. Sweet curry, more like a chutney. Worst bunny chow I have eaten. Very disappointing.
Excellent Indian food. Very informative and helpful gentleman waiter named Allan. Lamb Vindaloo was delicious. Really authentic Indian food
My first proper taste of Durban and it was delicious. Food came super quick and was presented so lovely.
This is the most pathetic Indian restaurant I've been to date. Useless staff, no parking, prices are more expensive than other better places and the mango desert which was recommended to us looked like vomit.tasted horrible. Will never go back there and strongly recommend people try Jaipur palace instead.
Wasted my money and time. Wish I never went to this dump.
My family and i have been going to this restaurant for over 10 years. The food has been consistently delicious and the staff are always wonderful. Well done!
Firstly a beautiful place with a warm hospitality. Was helped by staff that were very proud of their establishment. This is very rare and made the experience absolutely enjoyable. We never felt abandoned nor did we feel rushed or sufficated. The menu was beautifully laid out and once the food arrived it was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. We were spoiled with treats from India. Will definatley come again.
Portion size has decreased. Prices have increased whilst general quality &taste of food has deteriorated. Use to be a money's worth however it is no longer the case.
An authentic experience. I've been going here for years and never fails to satisfy. Not the classiest experience, but if you're looking for exceptional Indian cuisine at a reasonable price with pleasant staff, this is the place to go. The fact that the restaurant is on the second floor is a plus.
Upon arrival, they will place you on a set table with a water bottle - for the latter they will charge you a hefty amount afterwards.
As we’ve come to order, it turns out that the waiter doesn’t speak English, but only understands rudimentary things which made any communication quite cumbersome.
The quality of the food is below average, but prices are extraordinarily high for Indian food. The balance of price and food is unacceptably out of place.
Overall, quite a disappointing experience. Highly recommended to skip this place if you want either good food, fair prices or a decent service.
Delicious flavorful food. Loved the indochinese dish. And masala tea is great too. Very friendly service. I can highly recommend this restaurant.
Brilliant food and service! If you are a lover of authentic indian cuisine, The Little India is a must!
Good Indian cusine. Wait staff are warm and friendly.
However, if you are looking to eat a good bunny chow this is NOT the place.
Curry is sweet and contains too many biryani spices. Every bite was crunchy.
Abit pricey.
Little India is a gem. Situated on Musgrave Rd it does bring a little bit of India to Durban. Staff are great and attentive. Ambiance is lovely, grab a seat on the balcony for the action or inside for peace. Food is delicious and perfectly tailored to your heat preference. Prices are very reasonable. Highly recommended.
