Thokozisa Restaurant/Deli

We visited here about 7 years ago, and comparatively we were disappointed. Our first visit was beautiful and bustling with full shops stocked with artistically handmade items; gifts for all occasions.
Now, in Nov 2020 we found a couple of the shops had closed down. The bathrooms were an absolute mess, and the restaurant and deli were just not what they used to be.
We waited very long for our take away meals, even thought it was just toasted sandwiches (roughly 40min)
The variety of baked goods was also disappointing, and same with the ready made frozen meals. We revisited because of our initial positive experience, but will not do so again.

Thokozisa has a special place in my heart and it is an underrated and hidden jewel in KZN. The food is always amazing, the atmosphere is light, happy and sunny and it has bargain prices to boot.

If you want quick service and gourmet food. This is not the place.however, if you are looking for a laid back lunch, descent food and an African curio shops.this is okay.

Great tourist attraction. A welcoming african singer with African shops. Great value for money from the restaurant side.

Great selection of Jams, spreads and sauces. They have amazing homemade bread and the best Boerewors.definitely worth a stop if you are in the area.

Interesting shops and some good clothing buys for berg recreation. Nice to have a lunchtime snack.

Die Küche super, der Service einfach sehr sehr freundlich. Auch ein Weg von 15km ist für diesen schönen Ort nicht zu weit!

Love the leather shop. The deli has a good selection of wines and meats. A lovely place to have a stroll and do some shopping. Cool artwork to make it colourful and give the place an African vibe.

The prices were pretty decent too.

My only disappoint was the lack of biltong, which I would’ve thought to be a staple item.

We ate here last night, half of the food was good and the other half was not tasty for us. The stuff is nice and the atmosphere is great.

Not impressed at all. There were only 3 tables with people when we arrived, yet no one greeted us at the door. We had to find our own table and try to catch the attention of one of the 2 waitresses. The food was average and the manager is borderline racist

Great place for a coffee or tea break with excellent service and very friendly staff at the restaurant

Brilliant service. When we were told the pies are freshly baked, we expected to wait half an hr for meals but it was ready so quickly. My son really enjoys his kiddies burger. We will definitely be visiting again.

Restaurant, sports bar, shopping and more. If you are unsure of what to do in the Drakensberg make Thokozisa your first stop.

It is always disappointing when you come back to a place and it seems to have lost some of its original charm or perhaps that is some TLC.
Overall the place is still not bad, but the flies have not been controlled and are a real nuisance. It's a great pity because there are some really interesting shops and places to see here at Thozisa.
The food is what you would expect but nothing too exciting.
This place has missed a potential opportunity and I hope that when I visit this place again that I will be pleasantly surprised.

This place is awesome if you want spicy food if you don't, you're looking for something healthy and something unhealthy it literally has everything you need and I definitely come here every single time I can

The service was good and I was served the best lamb curry that I have had in a long time. I will be back.
