Hotel ATKV Klein-Kariba reviews
51 Stayed at the campsite for 4 nights, and the experience was quite good I must say. Ablutions always clean with hot water, they have a generator during load shedding. All the campsites have a power connection and water tap. The camping area is a bit far from the main entertainment area so it is a long walk, I recommend bringing your bicycle. Campsites are more on the small side, very close to each other. There are plenty shade with many trees.
There is a restaurant onsite with reasonable prices and good food. There is also a shop with lots of stuff to n case you forgot something.
Plenty activities for the little ones with horse riding, pedal boats, water slides and hot pools.
Klein Kariba its a nice place sitting inside the mountains, very cool in summer with the rivers running through, nice place for self camping, restaurant and beautiful rooms
Beautiful and Serene environment if u want to enjoy nature and clear your mind.
Wonderful activities if u feel like going wild and very quiet rooms if you feel like being alone its a all in all catered resort.
I will come back again and again.
Best camping helpfull people. Except the humps or bumps very uncomfortable for caravans. Not caravan friendly.
Tent house 12 was neat and clean. Has also been well maintained. Just here and there something that needs attention.
Unfortunately, there were about 2 nights when there was just a lot of noise downstairs in a house where holiday goers stayed. Place is also a little bit dirtier compared to the last time we were there.
Wish the food court was open throughout the week, even if it's only half day
Other than that, it remains a VERY nice resort to go to for a break away.
Pools are well maintained, the putt putt was very nice and it has been upgraded nicely.
The service was also very very good!
Will definitely go again!
Stayed at the tented camp, the tent was fully equipped with the necessary equipment and was entertained by some wildlife animals.
Very clean, friendly staff, excellent security and many activities for the family. We will be back for sure
Lovely place. Excellent accommodation, well equipped and clean, good bedding. Really enjoyed our night there.
Rooms very old and small. Kitchen suitable for 1 person at the time. Stove new and advance. All bedrooms are upstairs wooden stairs are used to go there it doesn't feel safe and comfortable. Toilet and shower put together in less than 1 metre wall to wall, suitable for slender people. House keeping clean rooms daily no change of towels, soap and toilet papers. To enjoy the place you need to be out of the apartment most of the time. Uncle Sam tried his best to make the game drive interesting. My children enjoyed the quad bikes and paintball with uncle Lucas. My advice basic amenities like bath towels, soaps and toilet paper must be provided daily as a basic self catering needs. This is my first and last visit to this place I rather go to adventura.
The resort has so much to offer. The Mountain Cabins are luxurious with spectacular bushveld views.
A family resort that I would visit again and again.
I had a huge problem with flies in the flat. The baboons were a nightmare even if your door is locked they would come right up to the door.
Nice clean place not ideal but it was my perception that if you can't read Afrikaans you won't understand somethings
Awesome facilities (pools, restaurants, quad biking etc). There's a generator which is awesome. If you're staying in a tented house (like I did) then definitely expect some creepy crawlies (worms, lizards, shongololo's). The bedding wasn't clean (I recommend carrying your own bedding). If you're not Caucasian then go in knowing that people will look at you weirdly or make it obvious that they are talking about you. I definitely had a great time, probably won't go again, but it was a nice experience.
Overall great resort, lots of activities to do. Just disappointed with the horse riding. The horses don’t look like they are treated well. Most of them were tired when we went for the 45 minute horse ride. I felt terrible that they had to carry us on their backs in the heat, they were irritated. I don’t recommend going for the horse riding unless it’s a cool day. I don’t think I would go again because I felt bad for them. Please take better care of them and allow them to rest during the heat. It felt like animal cruelty
Scenery great, swimming pools fantastic. Room cleaning services are very good and I'm glad to see Covid-19 protocols are adhered to. But the room amenities have fallen on hard times. Rooms need tons of maintenance. For example, our room had the bathroom door not close properly (read at all, my foot had to keep it closed), the kitchen utensils are falling to pieces and the lighting in the rooms work sometimes and sometimes don't. I know Covid-19 has hit the hotel industry hard, but the problems I observed are not just 1.5 years in the making, this is systemic over many years now. People are not going to want to come back until the essential touch ups are done.
There are definitely better, and cheaper vacation resorts in this area. This place is overbooked by far, considering all the pools were small at best compared to other resorts' and the people wanting to use them were squished together like sardines on the long weekend. There are also an abundant amount of fake braid hairs scattered around the pool area, giving an unsanitary feel before even getting in the crowded pool.
The "game-room" is nonexistent, with all the ping pong and pool tables claimed to be broken. I have a fond memory of being able to row on a lake for free, but this time I had to make a booking days in advance and pay R50 just for the pleasure.
The horses seemed extremely neglected and are treated poorly. The horses are unwashed (riddled with lice as a result) and are forced to stand in the harsh sun all day. The 15 minute horse ride I had the pleasure of paying and booking for was equivalent of being stuck in traffic on the back of a depressed animal, the slow pace was kept even though the entire group had experienced riders.
Save yourself the money, Klein Kariba really should only be known for the stories of student debauchery that take place there.
This is the place to be. Neat, tidy, professional, and very exciting. This weekend was the thing we needed away from all the noise and stress. Thanks Guys. We will once again see you soon.
The restaurant service is pathetic, waited two hours for the food, orders were wrong and not everybody’s food was ordered. There WiFi is a waste and doesn’t work. Some units have WiFi when the one right opposite it doesn’t. Klein- Kariba is not what it use to be.
Great place to stay, very family friendly, excellent water activities for kids and adults. They need to make WiFi available, meantime you'll get good 3g signal. Units are old but in good condition, staff are excellent. There's a lot of activities to do within and around the place. The massage parlour service is great. The resturant is not quite there (in my view), very limited offering and was quite disappointing with the offering. Overall good experience, I will certainly consider it next time i plan a visit to the area.
