I recently had the pleasure of staying at Highgrove Lodge in Tzaneen, and I must say it was an absolutely wonderful experience. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm smiles and attentive service, making me feel right at home.
One of the first things that caught my attention was the spacious room I was assigned. The accommodations were beyond my expectations, providing ample space to relax and unwind. The interior design of the room was tastefully done, creating a cosy and inviting atmosphere. Everything was neat and tidy, reflecting the high standards of cleanliness maintained throughout the lodge.
The highlight of my stay was undoubtedly the caring and friendly staff. From the front desk to the housekeeping team, everyone went out of their way to ensure my comfort and satisfaction. They were always ready to assist with any request or query, which made me feel truly valued as a guest.
Equally impressive were the owners, who were actively involved in the running of the lodge. Their personal touch was evident in every aspect of the stay, and it added a sense of warmth and authenticity to the experience.

Food and service at the restaurant is excellent! Cozy Woodburn fires and playarea for kids! Bar has big screen TV for sports! Really a great place to meet up with friends!

I only went to the restaurant, which is ideal for relaxing, meeting, or any group function. I loved that it's situated outside the busyness of the CBD.

My review is based solely on the restaurant which is the only aspect of High Grove that we went to.

The meal selection is wide ranging and very affordable. I was initially a bit dubious but it turned out to be one of the best places I have eaten at in quite some time.

Definitely a hidden gem in the small town of Tzaneen. I would highly recommend and will be visiting again.

I am a regular customer. Since lockdown everything has gone downhill. A once sought after place is now a disgrace. Bedding in the room smells like old sweat. Hake and calamari combo for R145 was an utter disapointment. Prices went up and everything else downwards. You wont see me again

Wss very disappointed with their food and waitresses, waited long for the order and the pool was also unclean.

I placed an order for a 500g rump at 18: 45, had a couple of beers and my food just never came. By 21: 30 I was fed up of waiting so asked where my food was and the waiter said he had forgot about it. I asked for my drinks bill and left, had to get take aways on my way home. Absolutely terrible service.
Inside the bar area is stuffy and hot as they don't turn on the fans or aircon.

A very great restaurant and pub they've also got a very delicious variety of foods you can eat definitely would recommend it to anyone.

The managers know how to run a bar/tavern but not necessarily a restaurant. The food is okay (if it eventually gets served). Walked in and out a couple of times without any food. Second time around was because the manager didn't order their pizza boxes in time (well at least that's what the waiters said)?

The service was good and the food was also good but unfortunately nothing to write home about. I wish my steak was left to rest a bit longer as my plate was filled with blood by the end of the meal. I have to give credit where credit is due if you look at the size of the biltong and avo salad: O

I'm a customer for 13 years

I have travelled to may places and have had some really disappointing stays, but this was one of my most disappointing of all time.

- the staff were ok
- the room was tasteless and unprofessional
- the wifi never worked, even after reporting it and the reception assured me they will get it up and running
- there was no fresh bottled water in the room
- the pre-ground coffee for the coffee plunger was stale and very old
- the bathroom was huge, but there were no soap holders in the shower
- there was no mirror above the basin. The mirror was on the other side of the bathroom, so I had to walk to and fro to shave
- during load shedding, they could not provide rooms with generator power. There was one rechargeable LED light which didn’t work, and one candle which had probably been left in the sun and looked like a banana. There were no matches to light the one single candle
- Once the power came back, I could not turn the TV on as the TV remote didn’t work. I had to get up and physically turn the tv on / off.
- the fridge was not plugged in and along with no fresh bottled water, there was no ice either
- we sat down for dinner at 7pm. We ordered starters straight away. The starters took 50min and the main course even longer… 3 hrs at the dinner table mostly waiting for orders is just signs of a place overwhelmed and untrained.

I don’t like giving reviews like this and always try and look for the positives and give people the benefit of the doubt, but as I started off by saying, this has been one of the most disappointing stays I have ever had.

The food was not so nice.the waiter was kind though.

Recently a very close acquaintance of mine was subjected to extreme racism after I referred them to this place. I would certainly advise ya'll not to go to this institution.

Friendly staff. I love that the restaurant has an option of sitting outdoors by the poolside or indoors. Generally a nice place.

Poorly trained staff with absolutely no knowlede of its own wine list and a wine list that has hardly any of its wines in stock, spoilt an otherwise pleasant evening for us.

Sit outside! Sitting inside when the restaurant is not full the staff are incredibly loud and the service isn't great even when they have nothing to do. Food is OK not my favorite stop

Awesome place with large spacious rooms and bathrooms. Great on site restaurant that serves a good rump steak
