Olifants Rest Camp reviews
27Really deteriorating, nothing works anymore, toilets in the Shop/ Restaurant area are a disgrace, food offerings in Restaurant are quite poor and Top Dollar
Reception is a desaster. Check in takes to long. The room is simple, renovation is urgently needed. Does not fit to the price (far too expensive). Not clean enough. The restaurant is very good. Location is breathtaking. Perfect service
I had a rather disappointing experience at Olifants Tindlovu Restaurant. For a start everything seemed broken, there was one fan that was barely rotating in the indoor section of the restaurant and considering that the outdoor temperature was over 40 degrees it was unacceptable, the doors to allow some fresh air in were also all 'broken' according to the staff.
To add onto this, it all smelt strongly of bat pee and to say the least it is rather unappetizing when you are trying to eat. With such an amazing view the place has alot of potential but untill it decides to fix these issues I would reccomended giving it a skip.
Restaurant deck desperately needs a roof for shade. Lovely to sit outside but extremely uncomfortable to eat or enjoy anything in the sun
Nice location and amazing view from the restaurant.
Nevertheless we felt an overall problem regarding hospitality and professionalism from the staff. They are globally apathetic and during interaction with us it felt like they were trying to pronounce the minimum amount of words and make the minimum number of moves (and of course avoid any smile).
Also we did the morning walk on foot in the bush and it was great but it was supposed to be a 4 hours activity and after 3 hours we were already back at the camp. When we complain to the ranger he said: "it's a 3 to 4 hours activity". When we tried to complain about it at the reception later we got the answer: "the manager is not here sorry please try later. "
Please have more respect for your clients.
Had to wait in the queue for 30 minutes, just for one person to check in. When I was finally helped, there was not even the standard apology of "sorry for the inconvenience".
Not sure if this is their standard, but I did not enjoy this.
Note to management: next time consider the following:
- "Sorry sir, we're just dealing with an issue here, we're doing our best to help you", or
- "Sir, what is it that you would like to do? Oh, just a permit for the sattelite camp? That should only take 2 minutes, let me help you quickly", or if all else fails
- "Apologies for the inconvenience. This is not our standard and we can assure you this was an unexpected issue that we just had to attend to now"
Location is good but the bungalow are too old but just for one night is fine. They need to make renovation. Staffs at the restaurant are friendly.
Not my number one choice in the KNP, but have all the necessary amenities, and accommodation clean and comfortable. The camp can be noisy during peak season.
This camp has the most incredible views! Make sure to get a boundary or river facing chalet - you won’t be disappointed! Had incredible sightings from the comfort of our patio! The view and location is definitely 5 star!
Unfortunately the chalet we stayed in had some plumbing issues and so the bathroom had a very unpleasant smell! The bathroom could use some TLC in general as well. I hope that it will be amended soon, as it’s a spot with one of the best views and a stinky bathroom ruins the atmosphere somewhat…
Would also be great to see the rest camps implementing recycling in the chalets.
Our stay was nice, but maintenance needed. If i was the manager of the camp, certain things would have been done in and around the chalet. Peak and off peak season. The reality, the camps is busy falling apart.
Beautiful views. Waiters have no clue and lunch took an hour and a half to arrive for a table of four. Restaurant no ice despite being 39 degrees Celcius.
Only visited as a day visitor as we stayed at Mopani
Still a beautiful camp. The outlook over the river never ceases ro amaze.
The restuarant staff were very friendly and grateful for our patronage.
The restrooms need a bit of attention. Not as clean as they were in the past.
It's an awesome and amazing place to visit more specially going to sleep over. But they must provide gowns in the rooms
I enjoyed the stay
Quite, natural and along the river bank where you can feel the breezes and special wind blowing from the bottom of the valley to the top
Baie dankie
Magnificent views over the Olifants river. No camping, only chalets. Good shop en restaurant deck. Swimming pool.
Very nice rest camp in the Kruger National Park. Friendly staff and neat facilities. Nice shop as well.
The best location to stay the night on the hill overlooking the valley. Accomodation could use an upgrade though.
Need to keep they hand over the camp. Looks like it is going backwards. Enjoy to visit the camp and have lunch.
Wow the Lodge has an fabulous, breath taking view of the Olifants River. The bungalow we slept in had the usual stuff. At least the outside fridge has a cage around it so that the Monkeys and Honey Badgers can't help themselves from your groceies. I will definitely return!
