Punda Maria Restcamp

It's not that it's the best, but it's small and comfortable, and it was my first camp rest in Kruguer and for that alone, I'm fond of it

Baboons and monkeys are really a problem at this rest camp. Facilities can be renovated a bit.

We had a lovely one night stay at Punda Maria. The rooms are small and lighting is a little poor, but everything was clean and neat!

We camped there for 4 days. Stunning place. Nice little shop, good restaurant, great take out braai sides!

The showers at the campsite didn't have hot water. Housekeeping in general is bad compared to other camps. The hide and water hole is lovely.
I changed my review to 4 stars after the staff listened to our complaints and resolved the issues experienced.

Thank you Management for listening to our concerns. The bathrooms are cleaned and well stocked. The camp remains unique and rustic.

THE BIRD HIDE AND ELEPHANTS & BUFFALO WERE SPECTACULAR SIGHTINGS. THE CAMPS IN THE CORNER OF THE CAMP WILL BE OUR NEXT CAMPING SPOT.
PITY NOT ENOUGH ABULUTION AND WATER/ELECTRICAL POINTS AS THEY ARE NOT UPGRADED. BUT WE CAN MANAGE WITH OUR SOLAR BLANKET/OUTDOOR SHOWER AND PORTA POTTI. GREAT CAMP

We spent 3 nights camping at Punda Maria.
The ablutions were clean and we always had hot water but the washing machine no longer works.
The monkeys are really bad, they seem to be living off the the rubbish and what they can steal, trying to cook while they are around is difficult

Camping ablution facilities is a bit dated now. Don't expect to get a nice camping spot on the fence as long term campers occupy these spots.

Stunning place to visit to get away from the hussel and bustle of town life. Perfect to restore peace within.

Ablution need attention, swimming pool is upgraded, sparkling clean.
Laundry needs supervision.

Our evening Game drive was great. Promise, our Guide, was keen to show us trees, birds and Game and we were extremely fortunate to come across 4 Lionesses and 3 Cubs. Minutes later we were surrounded by a pack of Wild Dogs. Great evening!

You can clearly see that they cater for the international market. I travel all over SA and this place is expensive. The chef is great at his job but the menu is so small if you stay more than 3 nights there is nothing new to eat. No cell reception in any of the rooms

Stayed at this campsite in August, 2021. Not well run. Campsites not demarcated. Only some sites have power. Come on Kruger. With a little effort this could be a good camping experience.

The hide in the camping area was the best thing about Punda. Plenty of animals came to drink during our stay.
The shop is small but stocks most of the stuff you may need. The swimming pool was so nice on hot days.
The camping area is confusing. It waa difficult to figure out where to camp. We then decided to searched for an available electrical point and then checked the radious of 30m around it for a spot to camp on.
There were many shady areas without a nearby plug.
The one ablution needs some serious maintenance. The communal kitchen has a hydro boil and plates to cook on.

Punda Maria area is beautiful. Drive up to Crooks Corner to see all the Hippo’s and Croc’c and huge trees.
The Campground has few private sites but restrooms were clean and communal kitchen has hot water dispenser.

Lovely peaceful camp. Ablutions definitely not adequate enough, pity because we love it here. Seen to many irresponsible people not wearing masks to the ablutions

A rustic rest camp with many beautiful natural forest road drives in the area. Large variety of game and birds. This rest camp also has its own water hole.

By far the poorest of the Kruger National Park kamps we have visited. The state of the ablution facilities leaves a lot to be desired! Maintenance does not appear to be much of a priority!
