It is a pity that it is a cold day in Secunda. We we’re here early. There is one cashier who also decided to take a break, we don’t know how long will that break take. We are just left on the queue. The staff is warm inside and we are outside in the cold. This is ridiculous, an hour has passed already without any communication

Place is in a state of neglegt, not even the lawns are cut, no rest room facility available, on avg 30 - 45 min per person to renew your license if the system stays on long enough, the staff is friendly and help full of you ask for help. Loadshedding is crippling the system, two days of line standing and running around for affidavits and certified copies for nothing, still haven't filed my application for renewal

If you aren’t a patient individual, forget about going here. The worst traffic department I’ve been at so far. While waiting to do eye test and finger prints, the lady assisting me was busy playing a game on her phone.

They are totally incompetent at fulfilling the required public services to ensure orderly and lawful traffic behavior. Just see where taxi's park in intersections, e.g. Beyond the circle at the mall closing up one lane with no respect for other road users. Furthermore one can just sit at any crossing and see drivers not honoring e.g. Stop sign or Red robots. At night the Secunda streets become like noisy race tracks. So many vehicles also seen without either front or rear or no number plate and totally illegal darkened windows. The department is totally useless.

I went there with a negative mindset. Thinking;arrogancy, long ques, offline systems and preferences. To my pleasant surprise. From the security lady to the staff inside they were all friendly and helpful. The que was fast no offline systems and also more information if you ask. There's still room for improvement like toilets and seats for senior citizens. The test room for me was a 9/10. Thank you Secunda staff.

The test went much better than just getting it paid for. Know place to sit stand in the freezing weather outside. For hours nothing happens inside nobody at tge window go and by lunch. Thought something happened hear but I do not think so. Same old same!

Horrible place! The staff is rude, unhelpfull and very arrogant. I will NOT recomend going there again they like to waste your time. I will recomend NOT to go near that place!

Plan on standing in queue for 3 work days in order to renew your license. 1 to get paperwork done, 2 for payment, 3 for temporary license. O and from the look of things add another day for collection.

If I can give a negative five I would the payment lady dose not care or want to help I've been standing for 2 days now and still could not pay this place is a joke spent the hour and drive to a different town you will be back at home befor they help you

Coming here is just a waste of time. You can't be here from 5am and get helped around 12am and still tell you that their system is offline, there's no cashiers as well and the manager has the guts to tell you that "If you feel like we are wasting your time leave". This is nonsense they must just close this Department. Knowing very well that Around Secunda we don't have any traffic Department. It's 08: 20am still waiting for their service to start but they said they open at 07: 30am

There are so many people out there where you can buy a licence from, yet the honest, law abiding citizens are increasingly being treated like rubbish.
Stand here (mostly for more than 1 day) just to get nowhere.
Honestly, a dead person can give better service!
If the security does not like your face you ain't going anywhere.
If the staff don't feel like doing something (like their job) they ain't doing anything.
This is the worst place to go to. Ever!
Seriously, just go (literally) anywhere else.
Wish I could give a minus 5 rating!

This place should get a 0 star. Honestly the personnel are rude and racist. I think this area is locked in a weird time continuum where work happens in slow motion and breaks are taken more frequently. Avoid at all costs

Worst service ever, they opened at 9: 20 just to let us know that they cant help any1 yet but the will let us in 10 people inside to wait for the system and electricity, which they didn't even know when will it come back, such an important department but no generator. 8 hours of standing in the que to renew my license.

Okay fam, I got you. I went to RENEW my driver's license today so here's how I did it:

1. Pack food. This ain't your first rodeo. You're a South African going to a government department so expect to wait the entire day and no one likes you when you're hangry.
2. Get there early. I got there about 7am and there were already a few (30+) people outside.
3. Write your name on the unofficial list and wait.
4. When they open, an official will come out to explain the procedure and the T's and C's (see deets below). Your ears don't just decorate your face, use them and listen!
5. The official will ask you if you have any questions. Use your lips and ask. They will assist.
6. Write your name on a second list. ***THIS IS THE OFFICIAL DEPARTMENT LIST FOR RENEWALS. **** Wait in the queue. If you're missing any documents, TELL THE GUARD FIRST BEFORE rushing off to get the rest of your documents.
7. Fill in the form and wait your turn to the all-in-one machine.
8. When you get to the all-in-one machine, HAND YOUR OLD DRIVER'S LICENSE TO THE OFFICIAL TO SCAN. I had a problem because I didn't and the cashier sent me back to the all-in-one machine.
9. Stand in the queue for the cashier's. This took the longest. Have patience and show a little gratitude. There was only one cashier to attend to everyone: Renewals, Learners, Vehicle registration, Professional Drivers, etc.

I'm a renter, so here's my deets:
1. An affidavit from my realtor confirming my residential address.
2. A certified copy of the front page of my lease agreement
3. A certified copy of my ID.
4. Photos. I got these from the awesome ladies in the booth outside for R40.

The cost to renew was R170. NO CASH, CARDS ONLY. Apparently the license will be ready in 4 weeks (fingers crossed).

Conclusion: Meh, I've been to worse departments and stood in longer queues (I'm looking at you, Umgeni Road). The staff are pretty friendly and helpful but they are bit defensive from being yelled at by angry, frustrated people ALL THE TIME FOR THE LAST TWO (COVID) YEARS (I suppose). So smile, be polite, and use your inside voice.

Make sure you come really early (before 05: 00) write your name in the paper. And clear the day, you are in for a long wait.

I went to apply for a temporary driver's license and the service was up hauling. First the information on required documents given me was not precise and I had to do up and downs and then I was told the second time when I came back that the only proof of residence the accept is a municipal water bill payment only they didn't want to accept my proof of residence. There is no notice anywhere on the walls of such.

Their lack of patience and bad attitude is of great concern.

I felt really undermined with their treatment.
Something needs to be done to improve the quality of service as after all the service is not for free.
