Caravela Portuguesa Restaurant

My extra large hake was about 100 grams.a real baby hake.the wine per glass is 3 times more expensive than in any other restaurant @60 per glass.not impressed at all.

Went for a nice Sunday lunch at Caravela. The food was good. We had the seafood platter for two. The waiter was amazing and we didn’t wait long for our drinks or food. I really recommend this place if you’re keen for a tasty lunch or dinner. I do, however, recommend that they upgrade their interior and menus a bit. It seems a bit outdated for the food they serve. Maybe some new decorations would make a great difference. But overal a good experience.

Medium rare done perfectly. All food good size portions and a large selection to choose from. Inside as well as outside seating available. A separate bar area available as well. Very nice atmosphere. Waiter knew menu quite well, so could make suggestions. Will definitely visit again.

Every bite bursting with flavour! The chef certainly knows what "medium rare" is. First class experience!

A great find. We were only in Hartebeespoort for two nights and dined here each evening! Great food and excellent service.

Very nice atmosphere food was excellent nice white wine very good service however the dessert were not home made so I was a little disappointed they now have selection of home made desert the meal was superb

Surprised by the size of the restaurant, not cramped, food was very delicious. Waiters were well dressed and served us so professionally - impressed me.

The food is amazing. The service staff are excellent. You may wait a bit longer for you food, but it's so worth it. Will become a regular for sure

I was not impressed. They might have been good value for money in the past but they most definitely are not anymore. R175 for a full baby chicken. Only starch options as a side. Kids meals are pricey too. I ordered a side salad for my steak as they don't offer it as a side. Definitely not worth R59. My steak was advertised as 750g that is most definitely was not.

No regard for C19 protocols. Decor, furniture, menus, placemats.everything needs an upgrade.
Food is incredibly overpriced and plating is sloppy.
Hope they turn things around soon.

So we got to this restaurant at 12.30 on Sunday the 2nd of Jan and waited a good 30 minutes for our first drinks and only got served our starters and main course between 3.15 and 3.45pm. Our food was served in such a delayed manner that one family member had finished his meal and l was still waiting for mine. We were told they were very busy by the owner but people came after us and got their food within an hour. We go to a Portuguese restaurant and expect these places to respect their patrons and serve dignified standard of food for their exorbitant prices. Food was average, portion sizes small and service pathetic. Definitely a NO GO ZONE for us again.

The food there is really amazing! If you're a foodie and don't like being disappointed when it comes to food, that's the place for you. I just hope that they'll remain consistent and maintain the same standard.

Definitely one of the best places to eat within the area. Authentic Portuguese style food. The chicken espetada is delicious! Prawns are fresh. Great service and has a play place for the kids. Will definitely return again. Overall great experience.

Lovely seafood pasta, and Portuguese steak. Dessert cakes and coffee also good. The best is ice in the urinals so you can have some fun

When I kneed a beer and I'm in Hartbeespoortdam, Caravela has the best Bar to sit at! Smoking friendly but non smokers don't be alarmed, there is great airflow.

The colored lights create a soothing yet entertaining ambiance!
