Cradle Health Spa

The spa is gorgeous, serene, quiet and a great getaway from the city with great potential. However, our experience was dampened by various events/incidents.

1. I had made a booking for 2 Jan, and due to not seeing the quote on time my payment was delayed. Payment was made on 17 Dec, and I received an email from the spa that the booking was secured for 11:30am. On 31 December I received an sms stipulating my booking was at 12:30. I contacted the spa to ask them to correct this, and I was met with hostility and unprofessionalism by the receptionist Monique, who told me “I will not get into a back and forth with you about the booking times, you didn’t speak to me to make your booking”.
2. We arrived for our booking on time, and upon arrival we were informed that one of our treatments requires power and due to loadshedding, there would be a one hour delay. Two things, such an establishment should NOT offer such treatments if they don’t have any back up power (loadshedding has been ongoing for YEARS and they should have measures in place to prevent any inconvenience to clients). Secondly, we should have been informed ahead of time of this delay as it impacted our day and we either could have postponed our treatments, or made alternative plans to stay an additional hour. Due to not being able to stay for an additional hour, we had to forfeit our treatment (which we paid for).
3. Due to the delay, we had to make up the first hour by spending time in a jacuzzi. One of the jacuzzis (blue to be specific), is very rusty and doesn’t look like it has had any maintenance in years (it looked unhygienic).
4. There were no towels by the jacuzzis, and we had to ask for towels (attention to detail), and were given hand towels. There was no hooks by the white jacuzzi we used, and we had to put our towels on the bricks. In addition, I asked reception for flops/slippers (which is expected of any spa) and I was informed they had nothing and I had to use my sandals for the jacuzzi.

Overall, the client experience was subpar and extremely disappointing. The spa has so much potential but there’s alot of attention to detail that is missing and needs to be addressed.

I am giving a 2/5 score as the massages were good. Excluding the massages, I would give a 1/5 rating.

I spent 4 Wonderful days here! It started with great service from Joy on reception, who quoted me the perfect plan using some of the current specials.
My room was pretty, clean, spacious with everything I needed.
All the staff were helpful, professional and friendly. Priscilla in the dining room was awesome and all my meals were delicious.
My hubby and I thoroughly enjoyed our full spa day with Mpho and Portia. The treatments were amazing and we felt so relaxed and pampered.
I also enjoyed making use of the jacuzzi and sauna. The tranquil gardens with running streams added to the ambience. I bet they will look great in summer after the rain!
I highly recommend Cradle Spa and would love to return.
If I had to find a negative, it would be the TV sound quality in the room. But it was not a deal breaker.

Definitely worth a visit.

My wife won a couples retreat as a prize and I will say that we will be back for sure.
The Swedish massage is a definite must! 60 minutes of your life is very well spent.

Rooms are perfect for a night's stay, very comfortable and cozy.

Food is amazing and even worth a day trip!

Amazing experience. The back neck and shoulder massage was one of the best I've had! Well rested, staff always welcoming and friendly.

Unbelievable value, not just in that the treatments are great, but you get to use the other facilities for free, which includes Jacuzzis, sauna, steam room etc. Love it!

Had the most amazing day at Cradle Health Spa. The spa is in between the mountains at Hartbeespoort Dam and is beautiful. The staff is friendly and so welcoming, they made sure that we were happy at all times. The food is great, the location is amazing and there facilities and services are beyond what was expected. Definitely will be going back soon. Would recommend for anyone wanting a relaxing and special dag.

What an experience. The bed is a bit hard though and shower changes temperature every now and then, the spa is 5/5 and the restaurant. Packages is low priced for what is offered. Best massage we had so far was at this spa. Not a rand wasted at this destination

I wish we could live in this world. The treatments are simply out of this world, the folk that work here are friendly, professional and give you an experience that gets you ready to get back to your life. Beautiful setting, a much needed break and well appreciated from the time I arrived to the time I left- will definitely be returning.

What a disgrace! And you call yourselves a health spa.unskilled and untrained staff. Inedible food. No spa protocols and no hygiene standards. The "massage" was nothing but an oil bath. The worst spa experience ever!

Great service. Great massages. Restaurant’s service is slow, but good food and cappuccino was great.

The location is lovely and the staff very friendly, however from a spa perspective, both hubby and me got an oily rub instead of a massage and it is not in-expensive. I reached out to the cradle health spa regarding the treatment and training staff, but got no response. Would not recommend in terms of spa treatments. Left very disappointed, and un relaxed.

The treatments are worth every cent, however the restaurant was a disappointment. We waited 45mins for the food, hubby’s food was great but my food was cold and they forgot to add the main ingredient. I wanted to give a 1 star but hubby stepped in and reminded me of the great therapists helping us.

Great service from the restaurant staff, especially Emily. She has made all 3 visits there the most memorable and amazing experience. Her energy, friendliness and outgoing personality makes me want to keep going back. Nothing is ever too much for her. WELL DONE EMILY and restaurant staff.

Will never recommend anybody to Cradle Health Spa! Not professional, poor communication and poorly quality!

Just finished a 5 day Wellness retreat and wow! Staff here is warm and very friendly, attentive and made sure I had everything I needed to make my stay extra comfortable. Nicci and Marle at reception, thank you for your assistance pre and post my stay. I highly recommend the Wellness retreat, 1on1 yoga and pilates with Dr Francis were fantastic? ‍️! I feel fresh mentally and physically.
Cafe: I recommend that you rotate the menu every 2/3 days, for more variety. Otherwise, great Spa
