Broken Pot: Abhorrent Manager

It is with deep disappointment and a bitter taste in my mouth that I recount my dreadful experience at the aptly named restaurant, Broken Pot. While I had hoped for a delightful dining affair, what I encountered instead was a distressing encounter with a manager who epitomized everything one could loathe about the hospitality industry.

From the moment I entered the premises, the manager's presence loomed like a dark cloud, ready to rain on any glimmer of joy. Their sour expression and condescending gaze seemed to suggest that they saw customers as nothing more than an inconvenience to their day. It was abundantly clear that their sole purpose was not to ensure a pleasant experience, but to establish an oppressive atmosphere where customers felt belittled and unwelcome.

Attempts to engage with the manager were met with an astonishing level of rudeness. Their dismissive and impatient attitude left me feeling as though my mere presence was an annoyance to be tolerated. It was as if they considered basic courtesy and professionalism to be beneath them, choosing instead to revel in their role as a tyrant ruling over their unfortunate subjects. Their words were intended not to resolve the issue, but to humiliate and demean. It was an utterly degrading experience that left me stunned and deeply saddened.

As I surveyed the scene, it became apparent that I was not alone in my maltreatment. Other patrons, with despondent expressions etched upon their faces, seemed resigned to endure the manager's tyrannical reign. The joy that should accompany a dining experience was swiftly replaced by a sense of unease and apprehension, as if we were prisoners in a culinary nightmare.

In light of my woeful encounter, I caution all prospective diners to steer clear of Broken Pot. Until a dramatic overhaul of the managerial staff takes place, it would be prudent to seek sustenance elsewhere, far away from the oppressive grasp of Broken Pot's rude and contemptuous manager.

Excellent as always. Very helpful and friendly staff. Can recommend their wonderful oxtail dish.

The service received was professional and friendly, and their food was also reasonably priced and tasty.

Friendly waitress, good food and ambience. The cocktails and hot cocktails can be improved upon whereby they tastes like flavoured drinks for youths. This inspite of requesting the waitress not to dilute the drinks, maybe to make quantity

Awesome dinner experience. The fillet was super tender and done to perfection. Chicken with cranberry sauce and Camembert was juicy and the tastes complimented well. Stella on tap was fresh and crisp. The custard served with malva pudding was ‘home’ made-delicious. Highly recommend!

The food was not cooked well, my friend from Australia ordered medium rare but got something different, the waitress was awesome 10.1.10.

Its a great place, found it quite expensive though. Had crumbed mushrooms for starter, personally feel that a little salt needs to be added to the crumbs, tasted bland. The cheese sauce tasted like white sauce, needs to be looked at. Would have preferred a vinaigrette opposed to the mayo dressing for my salad. Otherwise a great place to go for the older crowd, quiet and tasteful

Very disappointed with my experience at Broken Pot.
A friend and I went there on Wednesday afternoon, when we paid for our bill the card machine had a problem and declined my transaction but on my end the transaction went off. I was asked to pay for the food again by a manager bcs the transaction didn't go through and if it did they would refund my money the next day. I paid another R250 again and the manager told me she would call me the next morning after she's spoken to the lady who works with payments. She never called me back I eventually decided to call them on Thursday afternoon and she said I'll check with the lady and get back to you, never called back! Today I called again and spoke to someone else explained what happened and he said he will find out and call me at 3 also never called back! I called again around 6 and spoke to the manager who was there on Wednesday and she had such an attitude! She said that both her and the other guy I spoke to told the owner and is waiting for the owner to get back to them and that she has to make sure the money went out of my account into theirs. I told her is it possible for me to bring a bank statement so that she can see the money left my account bcs I confirmed with my bank and it confirmed that I was billed twice! She responded by saying "Okay kom haal dan jou geld as dit nie in ons rekening is nie sal ek dit dan self terug sit. " She was extremely rude and should have handled this situation like a professional, instead I had to call them 3 times for a mistake they made after she said you'll get your money back tomorrow! Terrible experience really!

What a cozy little place! Wwine was well chosen and portion sizes good and filling as well as excellently presented. Recommendations was made by our waiter who knew his menu well!

Always a great experience. Just a pity about the smoking "display". The naughty corner. Most clients who prefer to spend hours of their hard earned money would rather sit in a smoke engulfed bar than be in a hurry to leave with a shortened order and zero relaxation.

We like going to this restaurant. The food is delicious. The waiters are very friendly and efficient. We have eaten a lot of dishes through the years and I really enjoyed the pasta Alfredo. The restaurant has a sporty vibe, there are television monitors everywhere where you could view sporting events. There is also a bar.

Guys whatever your recipe is for what you are doing. Keep it up. From calling to checking if you open to being greeted by Happiness, served by Brenda (which she is amazing given she is new) absolutely delicious food and great service. Food is on point. Thank you so very much. Will be back soon.

A no-nonsense bistro/ restaurant in an unassuming spot in Potch. I had the camembert and fig preserve burger. The fig preserve was home-made. The portions are generally quite generous. The highlight of the evening was the melkkos or milkfood. It is served in a traditional potjiepot and it made me cry from nostalgia and happiness - transporting me back to my Ouma's kitchen. The waiter was an absolute joy! He was kind and filled to the brim with jokes. I thoroughly enjoyed my evening at the Broken Pot.

Great food and atmosphere. Friendly staff and reasonably priced. One of the few places in Potch where you can get a Guinness pint!

Did not have the beer we wanted and the items on the menu were not available. We waited quite some time for our food. We have had better experiences here.

Great food and amazing waitresses/waiters. The only problem is the waiting time, the last time we waited 3 hours before our food arrived cause the kitchen was closed due to an influx of orders and happened the second time we went again but left and decided not to do the waiting thing again. Definitely needs more improvement on their service.
