46The waiter was really kind. Really enjoyed the food and service. The manager was also quite friendly. Just be prepared to wait for your food. Must say the menu has variety and is affordable as well.
Postive: Very good food. Nice sizes, love the extra sause they put.
Negative: tables are to close to each other, especially now in covid times. Little more space is needed between tables and larger groups of people. And also on the bill i dont like the fact they already add the tip for the waitress.

The fillet in the oven, juicy, soft, cut similar to shape of a shell like Sydney Opera house
For starters ask them to toast 2 rolls lightly for you and ask for the Portuguese table jam aka Chilli in a jar and take a small amount, pop into a freshly broken toasted roll and enjoy and when the steak arrives, put same Chilli along the folds and enjoy
A juicy, saucy, spicy and healthy serving of food. Great by takeout standards! It does what it promises on the tin. It's not necessarily healthy but it's a good dirty treat!
Excellent! The 'Fillet in the oven' steak was absolutely superb. Chicken was amazing as always. Love this place.
I had something specific in mind on what to eat and the waiter convinced me to try the oven baked rump steak and it was devine! Great food, great prices and great service! They'll see me again!
Always a fav for good Portuguese halaal dining. Staff are very friendly, food is just awesome and their platters are still the best sellers.

Not great tonight sorry, wrong starter came twice after waiting, meat was well done asked for medium, did not get my desert even as takeaway. Waiters were under too much pressure and could not remember things and count. Poor service

Great food had the chicken n prawns combo big portions super but I think I fell in love with their soft fluffy rolls n hot relish that they served prior to ordering our meal highly recommended but if u not into spicy watch the hot n extra hot
Food was excellent as usual. You must try the fillet steak. Busy on the weekends. Ideal for families to enjoy a family platter of chicken, prawns and steak.
Thee most consistent restaurant in Johannesburg for me. In the years I've been eating there not once have I been disappointed by the food or service.
A lot can be said about this place.at first glance you will notice the inviting atmosphere and the easy going attitude of the entire staff. The food here is Halal and delicious is a word that falls short in describing how good it was. What is more important than food is how amazing the staff is. Everyone is polite and helpful and makes you feel like you are visiting your family for dinner. Don't be surprised if the manager Papi stops by to check on you and make sure that everything is to your satisfaction. You can't go wrong with any choice in the menu.but my personal favorite is the LM chicken with Pri-Pri sauce.pro tip: get extra bread to soak up all the sauce. I hope you will love this place as much as I have and happy eating!
A great restaurant for families, business meetings, couples and even if you are dining alone. Their menu has something for everyone. The oven baked steak is definitely a must. The platters offer a variety of sumptuous foods. Very friendly and efficient service.

On my second visit to Calisto's Rosebank with my family, I walked out of the restaurant after waiting for my food for more than an hour. I spoke to the managers after 45 minutes to let them know of the situation, however they did absolutely nothing! I paid for my drinks without a word of apology. Although the food was almost done, I couldn't wait any longer. The manager didn't apologize nor he offered that I should wait for the food!
Service is poor and staff are only interested in increasing the value of the bill so they can get a decent tip which is added automatically to the bill. I'm disgusted by the "I don't care" attitude that I experienced at Calisto's.
Service is very slow for a restaurant of this calibre. We waited 15min for a coldrink after asking 1 waiter and a manager. Food is amazing but this service needs to be jacked up, also the food portions needs to be measured against other Calistos restaurants as the portions in this restaurant are definitely smaller.
