Florida DLTC

The Roodepoort Record reported that women and elderly were being targeted and robbed outside. However the situation is much worse. The people who previously made a living from passport type photos outside only get business from people needing Temporary documents. The permanent documents are digital photos. These entrepreneurs outside the driveway, try to not allow allow you to drive inside the DLTC and try to force you to park across the road as part of their luring of people. The taxi eventually got past them to drop us at the entrance inside. The driver who collected us stopped a little further up on Westlake Road at another building and got bombarded by people outside at the driver's window and at the back. His small rear back window was shattered from these people's anger at not being able to make money. We were at 6 Westlake Road, Florida. Inside the blue fence near the entrance were 2 Metro police staff members. I think they might have been part of the staff of the weigh bridge. I am not sure. There is no one around to protect the public or to manage these people outside. A sad and heartbreaking reality of what technology is doing to people. These people cannot even make an income. Furthermore, have a natis booking with your own ID number otherwise they will not be able to help as you won't be able to pay for your documents as the system will not pick you up as the person who paid or so we were told.

Specific woman named Violet M. I went to go pass out and had this horrible witch as my instructor, failed me for observations but as far as I recall I did my observations and whilst looking at her in the mirror she was standing with her phone in her hand not worried about me. How is that fair? Wasted all my time and money to be unfairly failed. All because they want bribery? Or is it because I’m coloured I got mistreated. I smell racism.she had the most stink attitude and I don’t recommend no one to pass out there. I pray that place closes down. As for Violet M, God will deal with you little miserable woman.

The staff was very unfriendly. Had a booking, but the system was down for 2 days. Would have been nice to be informed thereof ahead of time.
For your own safety, park inside the premises. The "car guards" seem very dodgy, even offering to fast track the process for you. Seriously doubt that's possible. They do have card facilities, so no need to carry cash.

Very bad service. I went there to do my licence and testing I was over charged and mistreated I regret wasting my time and money for nonsense please be careful with those guys and there is a Specific guy called (Obey) he scams people who are desperate for the drivers licence he has a driving school called (Obeys driving school) he will overcharge you he told me I'm owing him 15k whereas he agreed that I pay 5k at the beginning he mostly operates there in the Florida testing station the whole station is a scam I would recommend people not to use it at all.

Quick and painless to renew my license. Yes there are scammers outside the building, do not engage with them. Also DTLC is cashless now and remember to make an appointment online first. Thank you Florida DTLC

They should do something about the scammers on the outside. Saw 2 people getting scammed out of a R1000 today. They need additional security or signage to warm the people about it. And there is definitely someone on the inside working with them. Because these guys have peoples booking info. So just go inside from the start, don't listen to anyone outside that wants to help you!

Be sure to go inside for your licence/renewal. Do not accept assistance from people directing traffic outside. It's a scam.

The place is nice and tidy and the service is friendly, quick and efficient. Even a long queue moves very fast. I got my learner's here on my first try. Highly recommended.

Edit: Remember to bring your bank card. DLTC's do not take cash anymore.

More worried about KFC and bribes.you will not pass your learners without paying R1500.00 it is disappointing the kids study to fail with 1 point.only to find out it is rigged one person passed and I happened to walk with my two kids heads low treas flowing only to the guy that passed pay R1500.00.so I asked the lady what is the going rate to pass and she said R1500.00 you go in do the test do don't press complete or done.wait till everyone is out and they will correct it and then you will pass.pay me R1500.00 when done.so I can pay them their share

I booked a slot online and showed up about 75 minutes early (they recommend arriving 60 minutes before your allotted time). I originally put the address given on the website into the GPS, but there was nothing at that location. Searched for Florida DLTC, and maps found it easily. There was ample free parking and no lines to get a form.

Once that was filled in, I had to wait less than 5 minutes to see a consultant for the electronics. I brought an eye test certificate with me, so didn't need to do their eye test, but I'm not sure it was worth the extra R99 I paid at an optomotrist.

If you're not also getting a temporary license, you don't need to bring any ID photos - they take your photo and thumb prints at the same machine that does the eye test.

The longest wait was for a cashier, but even then I was done in under 15 minutes. NOTE: they only accept card payments.

I was impressed by the clean facilities. And the online booking makes the whole process much less painless. I was out of there well before my appointed time slot

The service by the cashiers and staff is good.unless there is loadshedding. When there is loadshedding no payments can be made, so it's a standstill. Rather do your eye test elsewhere and just come with the certificate. DO NOT ENTERTAIN PEOPLE WHO CLAIM THEY WORK THERE. Do not talk to the people at the gate. Head in and only speak to the people inside the staff offices and at cashier seats. There are a lot of scammer just lurking- offering to fast track your things. Do not fall for it. Be warned.

Be careful of the vultures outside! Go round the back to get in. Staff inside are professional and quick to process you.

I have been trying to get a hold of the Florida DLTC but no answer or it gets cut off.they don't response at all.what poor service.i need to know if my license is available for pick up.frustrating, annoying and don't care attitude is what i call the South African Government

Pls b advised if u go to do things in the station go straight inside or sick help to security officer the wl show u reception then u wl find help.dnt ask boys out side the yard

Something really good happened to this place! The booking system works perfectly and most of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Just make sure you bring your own pen. When there is loadshedding, the speedpoints don't work. I didn’t get his name but the guy at eye testing is super nice! Thank you!

Loads of people ask questions before entering the parking lot blocking the entrances. People inside got very bad attitude and act like they are doing you a favor. Got no backup generator. So when power is off the cashiers stand up and walk out. Have to wait till power is back on before anything gets done. Overall very disappointing experience

I witnessed many people failing their eye test, which is unrealistic to understand, after then they refere you to an optician in Florida who charges for the service and surprisingly most of the tested people pass and return back to the station with a certificate and complete the process. I find this suspicious, be aware.

This is the worst place to pick up my drivers license. I went on Friday 3 March 2022 and they were on strike and there is no confirmation as to when the strike will be over.

Follow up. Went today 8 march 2022 to pick up drivers license and now the people inside the card collection office tried to get a bribe in the form of lunch from my husband by lying to him and said I told them we will send the guy in the green top lunch. Will never use this branch again for renewal of drivers license. Totally corrupt. Stay away from this place at all cost.

This station is unmanned and unserviceable as of 28 Feb 2022 because of an ongoing strike. Was advised to retry on Monday 7 March 2022.

Bad, file went missing and completed another one that was on 3rd of July and when l checked on the Natis app the license was sent to the DLTC.when l got there today no one was there at collections but found a note pasted on the wall saying July cards not available come at the end of November.
