Makiti Family Restaurant & Waffle House

We were there on Saturday for a birthday party at the Waffle House. Food was fantastic and the telephone staff (we called earlier the previous week to book the tables as we knew they are always very busy) were very helpful and friendly. Now the reasons for my not so good score are the following:

1. Arriving there at the entrance stood about 6 waiters, they greeted, asked if we were with the party and we said yes. That was it. No "let me walk you to the table" nothing.

2. Eventhough the place was EXTREMELY quiet (no problem with that I take it people rather decided to go Sunday as it was Fathersday) it took our waiter very long to take our orders (don't know his name as he didn't introduce himself). So long in fact that one of the other guests at our table went to the bar himself for his drinks orders. We constantly had to call for him to come and take our drinks orders and our food orders. (Maybe they were prepping for the next days big crowd - but the Saturday crowd was definitely neglected)

3. Yes there is a sign stating that food is freshly prepared and we should expect a waiting period (no problem with that, rather fresh than pre-cooked and heated up). But seeing as we were one of 3 tables there the food took exceptionally long (thank goodness the childrens food didn't).

The above being said the food did not disappoint and was delicious. That Mozambiquan/Portugese chili sauce (bottled) is fantastic. Waffles are most definitely the must items to order savoury or sweet

And a lovely play area for the kids.

Really had a great time here with my friends and family. The service is excellent and top notch. We had a great waiter who served us. The waffels are amazing. However, the menue does not provide for a big selection, but we tried most of the options over time and all of the are great. The coffee is also good. The decor is really nice and greatest a warm and welcoming feeling. What we love about the restaurant is that it is very family friendly and a place you can bring your children to. They really cater for all ages. The staff is great, the food is really good and the atmosphere is spot on. Would highly recommend this restaurant. And make sure to keep an eye on their specials during the week.

When planing your wedding here. Find out first, what you're not allowed to do as everything is just too prescriptive. A DJ is not allowed to access mixing sliders for mixing music cause the panels are locked, A photographer do not have access to sound inputs cause its locked by management. No area designated for photography at reception. As a photographer I was asked to pay R40 for a jar of weak tasteless juice which were placed on every guest table. Mind you a table was also reserved for me a guest. Try to organize your own wedding coordinator as the people they assign to you are too restrictive and rude to work with. They try to milk you for buck around every corner. I will not recommend this venue to any of my clients.

Substandard, overpriced buffet. No views, seating feels cramped. Only good thing is the poorly maintained playground

Decent place to visit. Nothing extraordinary! Good was perfectly OK but not fantastic. Service good and kids play area also decent. We would go back but not in a hurry.

Great food and good customer service. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant. You also get to choose between indoors and outdoors sitting so that's a plus, especially if you love nature because this is one of those really green areas.

Poor and very slow service

I saw this place on a Facebook page and it looked charming. So my family and I decided to take a drive there on Sunday. We arrived and as we walked in we asked the lady at the door if this is the waffle resturant and with a funny look with not even a smile she said "that would be it". Mind you after we sat we noticed a white family come in and the same lady greeted them with the biggest warm smile. Funny that we didnt get that. We sat outside on the deck and i asked the waiter where is the play area for the kids as i have a 3 year old daughter and one of the reason we went there is because the website said family friendly. But to my surprise the waiter said to us sorry but the play area is full. We ordered drinks and unfortunately a fly got into mine. We asked the waiter to please get me another.not to replace it.or not charge me for it.but to get me a new one that i would pay for. The same lady at the door looked very annoyed and asked the waiter "Did the fly go in before or after she got it? So we were shocked and wondered what difference did that make if i was paying for the new drink? Needless to say this was the most unpleasant experience.we were made feel very uncomfortable.we didn't stay long but it felt like forever. Definitely won't be there again.

I thoroughly enjoyed the venue. I would never be able to tell it is close to the city. It feels like you are deep into Nature.

You know when someone says they feel like they in heaven? Thats exactly how I felt when I was there, no words can explain the beauty of the place. Don't even mention the service of the staff, it was out of this world. Keep it up

We attended a wedding at this venue. The Staff were very professional and they did a good job. The co-ordinator kept the master of ceremonies up to date with all the different arrangements. The church had a nice atmosphere. Well done to you all.

What a great venue. This wedding and function venue is fantastic and can house many different events at the same time. With stunning outdoor locations for that just perfect photo shoot, this is a must! The function staff is professional and always ready to help. The church venue is also of outstanding quality and depending on the venue you require can house many people comfortably.
