Letaba Rest Camp reviews
42Not well maintained, messy and dirty lazy and unattentive staff, very disappointing compared to the rest of the Kruger Park
Very bad, total lack of maintenance, accommodation not worth price, grass not cut, in past it was top camp, not any more. Wil not recommend to anyone in future
The camp looks unkempt with litter around and clumps of dried leaves left untended. Also, no internet, unless one was in the restaurant or near the admin block! Getting petrol was impossible unless one had cash. The burnt out shop should be demolished- it is an eyesore. The service in the restaurant was good and the chalet service was superb. We really enjoyed our stay due to the very friendly and helpful staff.
The tent camp needs a good up grade and also the bathrooms. The restaurant food were good and the service. Hope the San Parks make work of it.
Having returned from our highly anticipated 8 day stay in the park, camping at Letaba Rest Camp, I can not contain my disappointment at the general upkeep and maintenance of this once beautiful camp. The general public areas and gardens are overgrown and poorly maintained, the buildings and roof of the restaurant is in need of refurbishment and the ablutions in the camping area is not only poorly serviced by has not seen a coat of paint on years. Sad to see our #1 Tourist destination in SA go down in this way.
Letaba's campsite's ablution blocks need an urgent update. The bathrooms only get cleaned once a day, leaving it messy and muddy at the end of the day. The laundry facilities are old, but efficient. The Indlovo restaurant serves lovely food! And the view is spectaclar.
Camp is very well maintained.fantastic Elephant museum.however the Restaurant Tindlovu very disappointing, staff extremely reluctant to make a effort.no change if paying cash, no welcome.avoid if possible.
Very disappointed that the shop has not been rebuilt after burning down last year.
It is an eyesore which dominates the camp.
However, Letaba is still a lovely camp and the views over the river are still amazing.
It is significant that I can comment on all the venues we visited on our trip to Kruger except for Oliphant camp, which quite frankly is an embarrassment to S Africa, it is so tired and lacking in maintenance and smelling of Bat urine, it is in short a disgrace
Letaba has always been our camp of choice. We have been going there for many many years. It breaks my heart to see how backwards the place is going
Great Location against the river. Camping area was generally clean. Ablutions need serious maintenance and general management
Ablusion blocks cleans and fresh. Sanitizer in bathrooms. Kitchen with microwaves, sinks and an Urn right next to ablusion block.
Would be nice if tent houses also had cutlery and crockery.
Power tripped constantly. Very uncomfortable in stifling hot rondawel when this happened. Shower not very clean.
As first time campers in Kruger Park, of our 3 camps visited, Letaba is by far the best camp. The sites are a little more clearly marked and leaves and sticks raked away. Ablutions are old but clean. The roads in the park are not all covered in sand. The staff at reception and the shop are helpful and pleasant. Electricity is not available at all the sites so you need a long cable. Braais and dustbins are cleaned daily.
Still the best campsites in Kruger. Ablutions always clean with hot water, functioning laundrettes, camp kitchens with hotplates, hydroboils and microwave ovens. Most campsites under Mopani trees with abundant bird activity.
Letaba Rest Camp is situated along the Letaba River, this camp offers a tranquil setting. It's known for its elephant sightings, and the Elephant Museum within the camp is a must-visit. Some amazing size tusks of the older elephants that have lived in the Kruger Park.
Beautiful camp site with basic yet lovely chalets, there is a little shop and an amazing restaurant overlooking the river definitely worth a visit
One of my favourite camps in the park. However although the park in general is very dry. The upkeep of the Letaba camp in general seems to be strained. The walkway, swimming pool, grass area and campsites etc is in a bad shape. Museum still good. When will the gutted shop etc be cleared or is an insurance claim still pending?
Clean and tidy rest camp. Hut style was comfortable, with a super view over looking the river. Very clean ablution block.
Our bungalow was in a beautiful setting on a half circle facing the river. It had no kitchen zink, but had a microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge and utensils. The cleaning lady washed the dishes for us when she cleaned our room, so we never had to visit the communal kitchen. The shop is a temporary structure with only the most basic of items, but the camp is well run and the staff are amazing. Beds are comfortable and bathroom adequate. Lots of hot water, but a bathroom off a bedroom should have a door that can close from outside as well as inside. This is the second camp where the bathroom door has an indicator lock that only closes from inside.
