Sadly this has to have the rudest owner in South Africa who talks to her staff like trash. Never again!

Very disappointed in this restaurant. If you aren't part of the "in crowd" with the very rude owner, then don't bother going there. Hardly any of the pasta is actually homemade (as they advertise it to be) and the lady owner has such a bad attitude. I watched her throw insults to a client when he just asked to speak to her. We won't be back. Very overpriced.

Food was delicious but the establishment wouldn't serve us tap water, only imported tap water available at R 81 a bottle.
Felt extorted

As I arrived at 5pm, I was asked to leave 2 hrs later because I hadn’t ordered food. I ordered 3-4 beverages as I pursued finishing my articles for varsity due to loadsheding at home less than 2 mins away. I feel as tho the owner approached me assuming I was here for “computering fun” and didn’t bother to ask why I’ve been here for the 2 hours and still contributing to her restaurant.

The prices are OBSCENE. If you're eating and shopping here, it's cos you don't know any better.

The owner of this restaurant is a horrible person. My parents in law really enjoyed the place for a while, we went there often for lunch. The last time they went there, they had a small complaint about a dessert - and the owner couldn't take the criticism at all - she resorted to racist remarks, and made an absolute scene. Disgusting behaviour. What a pity.

My family and I have been coming to this restaurant for months. We have spent thousands and thousands at this restaurant over the last year. We have selected this restaurant over the many in JHB to spend our time at.
However, my parent's most recent visit to this establishment is one I won't forget.

My father made a comment about the Mille-feuille dessert being soggy and not crispy. This comment was not made without prompt. He was asked what he thought of it. The waiter told the female owner/ manager. She then attacked my parents saying "What do you know about food, We don't take money from Chinese people. "

My parents grew up in a French Colonial Country and have lived in South Africa for 32 years. They nor I even speak Chinese.

I am so completely disgusted by the owner. She is a blatant racist and it is appalling. It is such a shame.

This is NOT authentic Italian food.

I rather recommend Ristorante di Trinita or Franco's Tratoria or Aurum, but never this place.

The middle-aged woman is the worst hostess I ever met in the world. She was shockingly bad.

Please do this business a favour and fire the female manager. Called recently and asked how they were adhering to Covid social distancing Protocols and was told that if that's my concern I should go elsewhere.

Took a drive past and they were fully booked and as expected, no social distancing.

One wants to support restaurants but when it's based on greed, a blatant disregard for Covid and a manager who should rather be non customer facing, there are far better restaurants to support

Extremely poor, rude service from the restaurant owner. On 31Jan2021, my wife and I decided to go to this restaurant for lunch. A short while after looking at the menu, we decided to leave seeing that there were no items which appealed to us. We had ordered a pot of tea and before leaving, asked a waiter to cancel the order, which he confirmed he would do. After leaving the restaurant, another waiter approached us to make payment saying that he would need to pay for the tea. We explained to him that another waiter had already canceled the order but he didn't agree saying he would need to pay. We did not want to make him pay so I went to the car, got some cash and went back in to the restaurant to pay. Upon entering, I heard the waiters saying "he's back". I then saw the manager who immediately turned her back to me, accusing me of not wanting to pay, all the while walking away and not having the decency to face or even speak with me. I felt extremely offended by being subject to this behavior since, despite making a false accusation of me, she did not treat me with dignity, and after a while started to raise her voice at me. Is this how a customer should be treated for wanting to resolve a situation and make payment? What I thought would be a very quick, normal and routine gesture, turned out to be a nightmare and I was left feeling extremely embarrassed, insulted and offended. Later on, my wife drove back to the restaurant to clear the air and explain nicely to the owner what occurred. We wanted to do this to engage properly with the owner hoping she had calmed down, and without needing to write a review. However, my wife was received with even worse and rude the behavior from the owner, who raised her voice at my wife despite my wife calmly trying clear and resolve the issue. She shouted further saying she did not care if we wrote a review and gesturing with her hand for my wife to "get lost". This is disgusting rude, uncouth and totally unacceptable. We have eaten at restaurants all around South Africa, and we have never been treated this way before.

After being a loyal customer (even ordering take aways to go during covid), I will definitely NOT be visiting this establishment again. Today my husband and I both ordered a glass of Raka Merlot and a pasta dish each (definitely paying customers) but when we asked for a glass of water the waiters simply refused. Apparently the owner does not trust municipal water. So what do they wash their hands with before preparing our food? Or the food itself? Absolutely disgraceful and against the law! I make my own choices and no restaurant will force me to order a bottle of water at a price more expensive than a coffee (look at their menu for this lovely titbit)
The 2 stars is because the food isn’t bad - but I won’t be returning based on the owner and her utter foolishness and the way she barks at her staff!

Food was really good.
We were refused tap water and only water that was available was R89.
The chairs were also extremely uncomfortable.

Most overpriced Italian restaurant in JHB. If the food matched the pricing I wouldn't mind, but it's no better than any other Italian in the area. Excellent service though!

We went for pasta and a meat course. Pasta was from daily specials and was very tasty with a big portion for an italian. The Secondi courses were terrible, meat was bland and it came with a plate of potatoes and veg as though it was a Roast Dinner - I'm not sure they understand the Antipasti and Secondi process! It is a beautiful setting and a fabulous place to sit down. Service was good but I found the staff not to be too friendly.

Nice atmosphere and good food, however I was expecting more especially at the prices. The homemade ice cream is a must try!

The most divine pasta and desserts - slightly put off by the fact that “waiters are instructed not to serve tap water to paying customers”, some people just prefer tap water. Other than that, not too bad.

Great atmosphere but "wow", their prices are over the top for what seems ordinary Italian.

Nice upmarket deli turned eatery.
Good atmosphere.
Late night service a bit slow and lacking on basics like serviettes and a clean table cloth.
The kitchen closes at 9pm, get your order in on time.
The main meals have tiny portions, and you might leave hungry.
The desserts more than make up for it with MASSIVE (almost excessive) portions.
Expensive place! 5 people ordering only coffee and dessert - expect a bill of over R1000.
Good quality food.
The ONE toilet is not great, but at least it is clean.
We will save up and return for a full dinner.

Tried a new wine, which was not so and at all … the chocolate wine. Nothing to do with chocolate except for the color maybe…
